4th Grade Book Club Announcement! 🦒
Mrs. Pace and Mrs. Taft are excited to announce an opportunity for students to participate in a 4th Grade Book Club! This is a completely optional extracurricular activity. Our first book will be The White Giraffe by Lauren St. John, from the Legend of the Animal Healer series. We look forward to sharing a wonderful reading adventure together!
When: Fridays during lunch (or Thursdays if there is no school on Friday)
Where: In the Mrs. Pace's classroom. Students will eat their lunch with us while we discuss the book.
First Meeting: Friday, November 6
A Few Important Details for Parents:
Book Purchase: Parents will be responsible for purchasing a copy of the book.
Weekly Preparation: Students are required to read 5 chapters a week BEFORE each meeting and come prepared to participate in discussions and answer book club questions.
Small Group Setting: We want to keep our book club groups small so everyone has an opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, and participate in meaningful discussions. If we have a large number of students interested, we will organize several rotations so that everyone has an opportunity to participate.
We are excited to encourage a love of reading, build comprehension skills, and enjoy discussing a great book together! ❤️📚
If your child is interested in participating, please fill out the Google Form attached. We look forward to a fantastic book club experience!
How to check your MAP scores:
MAP scores will no longer be printed and sent home; you will need to access them digitally.
MAP scores can be found in Skyward under "Portfolio".
If you have any questions or are unable to find the link to MAP scores, please contact your child's homeroom teacher.

Celina ISD’s Gifted & Talented referral window will be open October 5–16, 2026. Parents, teachers, and staff may refer a student for GT testing during this window.
This is the only GT referral window for the 2026–2027 school year. No additional referrals will be accepted after the window closes.
Please note: All 2nd grade students will participate in the district’s GT universal screener and do not need to be referred.
Please see the graphic below for testing dates and service timelines.
Think Sheets & Behavior Reflection
At O’Dell, we work hard to help our 4th graders learn not only academics, but also how to make positive choices and take ownership of their behavior. One tool we use to support this in 4th grade is a Think Sheet.
A Think Sheet is a short reflection form that helps 4th graders pause, think about the choices they made, how their choices affect others, and plan how to make better choices next time. This is part of our restorative approach and focuses on growth, personal responsibility, and learning from mistakes rather than punishment.
If your 4th grader brings home a Think Sheet, please review it together, sign it, and return it to school the next day. Your support and conversations at home help reinforce these expectations and prepare them for greater independence.
Thank you for partnering with our 4th-grade team to support your child’s social and emotional growth!
