Lykins Elementary STEAM Fair
Welcome to the 2023-2024 STEAM Fair
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Our nation is making a push for studies in STEAM and we want our Lykins students to shine as they demonstrate their skills as a scientist, technologist, engineer, artist, and mathematician. Adding the arts into the mix brings creativity and sense of design to the project. This event will not be a competition, but a showcase of projects created by our Lykins students. Students will not be judged, but will be given positive comments about their project from Lykins staff, STEAM professionals, and members of the community. All participants will receive recognition for their outstanding work. We want our students to experience real world learning which opens up to a wide range of topics in the fields of STEAM. Click on "Project Ideas" and "Helpful Links and Vocabulary" for projects ideas ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. We want our students to have fun, explore, and experience STEAM in the real world
Important Dates:
March 8, 2024 - Registration opens
April 1, 2024 - Registration closes
April 11, 2024 - STEAM Fair Day!
Students will need to bring their project board to their classroom in the morning. Classes from all grade levels will view the STEAM Fair projects on display. We ask that only the project boards come in the morning. If you have other materials that belong with your project, please bring them in the evening to the STEAM Fair event. Students will need to have their name, homeroom teacher, and grade on the back of their display board.
STEAM Fair Night 6:00-7:00 pm. Project set-up begins at 5:30 pm. All participants will need to check in through the front doors. All project boards will be set up in the cafeteria and gym. Students may bring additional items for their project during this time. We ask that all items fit within the project board area. If items are larger, please use a picture instead of the actual object.
Participants will communicate information about their project with STEAM professionals, Celina ISD staff and other members of the community during the event.
