Dear Second Grade Families,

The playground improvements were completed over the break. Please make sure you are not allowing your child to come to the playground without adult supervision after hours. We ask that children do not ride bikes or scooters on our new turf. I would encourage our neighborhood children to use the playgrounds in the community after school hours.

There is still time to sign up for our Trunk or Treat during the Family Wellness and Community Fair on Tuesday, October 27th from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Please fill out the volunteer form HERE.

Important Reminders

Please pack a healthy, easy-to-eat snack for your child in their backpack. If your child needs a spoon or fork to eat their snack, please send one with them.
Please send a refillable water bottle to school with your child each day. We have filling stations that they can use to refill.
Please make sure your child is not bringing toys, collectibles, Pokemon cards to school. These will be taken up by the teachers.
The classrooms can get chilly. Feel free to send a jacket/sweatshirt in your child's backpack that they can put on if needed.
Please use sharpie to label your child's water bottle, lunch box, jackets, etc.
We will provide balls for the kids to play with at recess. Please do not allow your child to bring balls from home, as we cannot be responsible if they are lost or stolen.
Students rotate through a different specials each day. These include Art, Music, PE, and STEAM. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on the days that they attend P.E.
Please make sure your child is aware of how they are going home each day. A student's regular dismissal procedure will not be changed without written permission from the parent. Please let your child's teacher know by 2:00 if there are changes. Otherwise, we cannot be sure that the message will be received and we will be able to honor the request. Thank you for understanding that we do this for your child's safety.
Dismissal begins at 3:05 p.m. and end at 3:15. If you show up past 3:15 to dismissal, you will have to come into the school to check out your child from the front office. Please make sure your child's teacher knows how your child will be going home each day. If transportation changes, notify your child's teacher by 2:00 p.m. We do not always have time to check messages right before dismissal, this helps us ensure your child gets home safe each day. If you are picking up a student who is a cousin, friend of your child, etc. you MUST have their physical car tag with you from their parent(s)! If you do not the child will not be released to you.
All O'Dell Teachers will be using Class Dojo as their primary form of communication this year. If you have not signed up with a parent account, please do this as soon as possible. We do not want you to miss the important updates we send.
Parents are able to come eat lunch with their kids. We ask that you only do this once a week. Only your child may sit with you. They are not allowed to have their friends sit with them also. (Unless that child's parent is also present)

Please do not send any snacks, lunch or birthday items containing nuts due to food allergies. This does not include items made in the same facilities as nut products.

While we understand we are not able to eliminate exposure in the school entirely, we are doing this to help limit exposure in 2nd grade. Thank you so much for your understanding and help in keeping our classrooms safe and healthy learning environments for all.
