Study visit Granada

Study Visit 1: Spanish youth workers visited Madeira to learn from formal educators and compare local farming and agroecological projects.

Contents of the Study Visit: 

• Raising Awareness/Training on the scientific principles of Agroecology, sustainable practices and organic farming

• Presentation of Madeira Zootechnical Station

• Visit to the Camacha Educational Farm with practical activities: preparing seedbeds and identifying seeds; preparing organic substrate, preparing pots and planting in the ground; the importance of insects in agriculture, weeding and caring for, watering plants, and measures to prevent pests in organic gardens).

• Study Visit to The Madeira Botanical Garden

• Visit to Funchal Ecological Park: guided tour of the native plantnursery to learn about the plants and sustainable management practices of the nursery; reception of endemic/native plants for planting. 

• Visit to Subtropical Fruit Growing Development Centre of Quebradas.
