El bolígrafo es el instrumento de escritura más popular en todo el mundo. pero existen otros tipos de instrumento de escritura que podemos reciclar: bolígrafos, plumas, rotuladores, marcadores, subrayadores, hasta correctores como tippex... Hay otros objetos, como lápices, tizas, pegamentos o reglas que no se aceptan para no perjudicar el proceso de reciclaje.
Pero ¿Qué se hace con ellos?

¡Si! Los bolígrafos y otro material de escritura son reciclables. Sin embargo, existen bolígrafos más sostenibles, como son los bolígrafos recargables. Una vez se agota la tinta, puedes comprar otra y meterla dentro de su recubrimiento para no tener que comprar uno nuevo.

Cuando se gastan, los instrumentos de escritura arriba descritos pueden traerse al CEIP Oromana. En colaboración con BIC y TerraCycle se enviarán para su reciclaje.

Lo primero, los desechos de estos materiales se trocean para hacer más fácil el proceso de separación de los materiales plásticos de otros inservibles. Después, el plástico que ha sido separado se mole hasta que se transforma en finas bolitas que posteriormente servirán como materia prima para diferentes productos.
Estos productos van desde algunos como sillas a otros como bancos para parques. Lo normal es que se separen los materiales (plásticos de metales), se limpien bien y se libren de impurezas, para posteriormente triturarlos y usar los materiales de nuevo.
Con su reciclado se pueden crear desde envases, hasta tuberías, pasando por fibras textiles. ¡Todas esas vidas pueden tener el plástico de nuestros bolígrafos!

El funcionamiento del programa es sencillo. Primero debes realizar el envío de un paquete que contenga al menos 20 kilos de material de escritura, y con cada envío recibirás puntos TerraCycle que podrás canjear por donaciones para aquella asociación o escuela que elijas. Cada punto equivale a 1 céntimo de euro, y una vez acumules un mínimo de 1.000 puntos podrás canjearlos.
La cantidad de puntos otorgados varía en función del peso del paquete enviado. Estos puntos, al ser canjeados, son abonados a las cuentas de los gestores de lugares públicos de recogida y coleccionistas privados en compensación por sus esfuerzos de recolección.

Pens are the most popular writing utensil in the whole world, but there are also other types of writing utensils that can be recycled. For example, markers, highlighters and even white-out. There are other objects such as pencils, chalks, glue sticks or rulers that are not accepted in order not to affect the recycling process.
But, what do they do with them?
Are they recyclable?

They are! Pens and other writing utensils are recyclable. However, there are more sustainable pens as is the case of refillable pens. Once they run out of ink, you can buy more and refill the ink so that you do not have to buy a new pen.
Where can you throw out pens?
When they run out of ink, the writing utensils described above can be brought to CEIP Oromana. In collaboration with BIC and TerraCycle, they will be sent to be recycled.
What is the recycling process?
What is the recycling process?
First, the waste of these materials are cut up in order to ease the separation process of the plastic materials from the unusable ones. Then, the plastic that has been separated is grinded until it becomes small thin balls, which will later be used as raw material for different products.
These products ranged from chairs to park benches. Usually, they separate the materials (plastics from metals), they clean them well and they remove any impurities to later crush them and use the materials again.
This recycling can create containers to pipes, and even textile fibers. All of these things may contain plastic from our pens!
How does the program work?
How does the program work?
The way the program works is simple. First, you have to send a package that contains at least 20 kilos of writing utensils, and with each shipment you will receive TerraCycle points that you can redeem for donations to any association or school of your choice. Each point is worth 1 cent and, once you accumulate a minimum of 1000 points, you will be able to redeem them.
The amount of points granted varies depending on the weight of the package sent. These points, after being redeemed, are credited to the accounts of the managers of the public pickup location and private collectors to compensate for their collection efforts.
