Ibiza and Formentera are two beautiful islands in the Balearic Islands, located in the Mediterranean Sea. They are known for their stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters and beautiful landscapes. Ibiza is especially famous for its nightlife, electronic music and international clubs, while Formentera is known for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty.

Both islands have a rich history influenced by different civilizations, including the Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs. They are also known for their traditional seafaring and country-style cuisine, based on locally sourced products, such as bullit de peix, frita de polp, greixonera and flaó.

Ibiza and Formentera are also rich in local traditions and culture. They are known for their traditional festivals, folk music and dances, as well as their traditional white clothing and handmade crafts. One of the most characteristic traditions is the Ball Pagès, a traditional folk dance accompanied by instruments such as the drum, flute and castanets. These traditions reflect the islands’ strong cultural identity, which combines Mediterranean influences with their unique island lifestyle.

The Conservatory of Ibiza and Formentera is an important centre for music and dance education in the Pityusic Islands. It offers education to students from 6 to 18 years old and has around 400 students and 50 teachers across the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. Students have the opportunity to study different musical instruments, as well as subjects such as music theory, choir, musical language and dance. The conservatory helps young musicians and dancers develop their skills and encourages them to enjoy and understand the arts.

The conservatory also plays an important role in the cultural life of both islands. Students have the opportunity to take part in concerts, performances and other artistic activities. It brings together students and teachers who share a passion for music and dance and helps to promote artistic and cultural life in Ibiza and Formentera. The conservatory also has active participation in the Erasmus+ programme, giving students and teachers the opportunity to participate in international exchanges, educational projects and cultural experiences with other European institutions.

Ibiza and Formentera are well connected to the rest of Spain and Europe, making them accessible destinations for Erasmus+ students, teachers and staff. Ibiza can be reached by plane or ferry, with regular flights from several Spanish and European cities. The island also has a port with ferry connections to mainland Spain and other Balearic Islands, such as Mallorca and Formentera.

Formentera does not have an airport, so Erasmus+ participants travelling to the island must first arrive in Ibiza and then take a ferry from Ibiza. The journey takes around 30 minutes. The conservatory can provide participants with information about travel arrangements, ferry timetables and the best transport options for reaching their accommodation and the educational centre.

During their mobility, participants can travel around the islands by bus, car, scooter or bicycle. Ibiza has a wider public transport network connecting the main towns, while Formentera is especially suitable for travelling by bicycle or scooter. These transport options make it easier for Erasmus+ participants to attend activities, visit the conservatory and discover the culture, traditions and natural beauty of both islands.

Ibiza and Formentera offer different accommodation options for students and teachers taking part in Erasmus+ mobilities. Depending on the length and type of the mobility, participants can stay in student residences, apartments, hostels or other suitable accommodation.

For students, shared apartments or residences can be a good option, as they provide a comfortable environment where they can live together and meet other young people. Teachers and staff can also find apartments, hotels or other accommodation adapted to their needs.

The conservatory can support participants in finding suitable accommodation and provide information about the different options available on both islands. This makes it easier for Erasmus+ students and teachers to enjoy their mobility experience while discovering the culture, traditions and natural beauty of Ibiza and Formentera.
