Our Curriculum

As an upper school, Year 9 is our opportunity to prepare students for the rigour of GCSE study as soon as they join us. The Year 9 curriculum is ambitious and supports students’ progress by developing and furthering their previous learning at middle school and offering a broad and rich choice of subjects. There is the opportunity for all Year 9 students to gain stand-alone qualifications at the end of the year preparing them for the skills they need to be successful across the curriculum. All subjects cover the KS3 National Curriculum and prepare students for GCSE content and learning. Core subjects begin preparing Year 9 learners for GCSE content as soon as they arrive at Cedars so they can build the core curriculum around all students’ needs and starting points. The diverse curriculum, including the delivery of careers information, advice and guidance, is designed to support our students’ informed decisions about option subjects in Years 10 and 11 and ensure they achieve excellence.
