How to Join

Joining NHS is a valuable opportunity for all CHS students. Not only does membership demonstrate one's intellect, seriousness, and leadership, it also helps students learn how to promote the advancement of their school and community. Consider applying!

The Application and Selection Process

Eligible junior candidates will be invited to apply after first semester grades are recorded. Below is an overview of the selection procedure and our timeline for the process.

Applications will be sent via email to juniors who have a 3.4 cumulative grade point average after first semester grades have been recorded. Seniors who did not qualify as juniors but do as seniors will be emailed an application in September. Seniors admitted to the NHS in the fall will be formally inducted the spring of their graduation.

Letters of acceptance and non-acceptance will be emailed to students. Students who were not accepted into NHS and feel the decision was unjust may make an appointment with administration to appeal the decision. There is a deadline for filing appeals (TBD).

As their first NHS project, junior members are encouraged to fundraise for CCSF. Information will be provided in your acceptance letter. Direct questions about CCSF fundraising to Mr. Cullen.

A special ceremony to induct new members will be held in the CPAC.

Please note: If you are not eligible to apply for NHS during your junior year, there will be an opportunity to apply during September of your Senior year. Information will be emailed out to eligible seniors.
