Concert Band is a non-auditioned ensemble that consists mostly of underclassmen. Members may also choose to be a part of the CHS Marching Bulldogs. Concert Band is a place to learn more about the fundamentals of your instrument (scales, range extension, tone building) while rehearsing concert literature within a collaborative music community. Band members are eligible to participate in the WSMA Solo/Ensemble Festival in the Spring. All concert band students are required to participate in the basketball pep band.

​Attendance is required at all events in which the band participates as a unit.

Symphonic Band is an auditioned ensemble for our most advanced instrumentalists. Members of Symphonic Band will advance their instrument technique and music theory fluency to its fullest potential through comprehensive warm-ups and challenging literature. Students in Symphonic Band will be expected to control the full range of their instrument with an ever-improving understanding of creating a full rich tone and accurate intonation. Typical literature selections range from Grade 3 (medium) to Grade 5+ (collegiate). Participation in marching band is required. Required performances include but are not limited to: All marching band required performances, Winter concert, Spring concert, Basketball Pep Band, WSMA Solo and Ensemble, Memorial Day Parade/Services, and the 4th of July Parade.
