CANDIDATE WHO HOLDS THE ASSOCIATE DIPLOMA PART 1
This candidate will study the New Associate Diploma Part 2 Examination.
EX PROFESSIONAL
This Candidate will do the complete
Associate Diploma Part 1 and 2.
This candidate does not need to hold the Cecchetti Intermediate Examination.
CROSSING OVER
This Candidate will do the complete
Associate Diploma Part 1 and 2.
This candidate does not need to hold the Cecchetti Intermediate Examination.
IN WHAT WAYS CAN THESE EXAMINATIONS BE TAKEN?
• Two separate examinations
• Part 1 and Part 2 all in one session
• Part 1 and Part 2 in one day
• It is preferable that Associate Diploma Part 1 and Part 2 be completed in 2 years
NEW ASSOCIATE DIPLOMA PART 1 - ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• Age 17 years and above
• Passed Cecchetti Intermediate
• First Aid Certificate
• Working with Children Check
• Examination must be taken at the Centre.
• Candidate will supply 2,3 or 4 assisting students. If the candidate does not have students, the organisation will assist.
• Students should be at the level chosen by the candidate
WHAT IS DIFFERENT?
NEW
• Age 17 years as in Associate.
• Successfully completed the Intermediate Examination or above .
• Examination results not required .
• Does not have to have completed 2 years teaching in the Cecchetti Method in a responsible position.
• Student level can be at any level from Primary to Grade 3 as chosen by the candidate.
• No set study hours of Anatomy, Music, Business and Early Childhood Development.
• No Choreographed Dance is required
• 1000 to 1500 Essay on Maestro Cecchetti.
• No class plan is needed to be submitted to the examiners
• End or Course Assessment in Anatomy and Early Childhood Development can now be completed either during Part 1 or Part 2 Diploma.
OLD
• Age 18 years.
• Successfully completed the Advanced 1 Examination.
• 2 years Examination results.
• Have completed 2 years teaching in the Cecchetti Method in a responsible position.
• Student level could be at any level depending on level of class presented.
• Set study hours of Anatomy, Music, Business and Early Childhood Development.
• Choreographed dance.
• No Essay was required.
• Class plan was required to be submitted to the examiners.
• End of Course Assessment in Anatomy and Early Childhood Development could only be completed in Part 2 Diploma.
PART 1 EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will commence with the candidate entering the room, introducing themselves to the examiners and pianist and discussing their teaching experience e.g.
Is the candidate teaching for themselves or for another teacher?
The levels they are teaching.
Whether the candidate has have a chance to teach various physiques.
Answer any further questions the Examiners may ask.
The candidate will then bring the students into the examination room and introduce them to the Examiners ensuring they have numbers or names for ease of identification.
The candidate will address the pianist in a formal manner.
The candidate will direct the pianist throughout the class.
Examiners will ask the candidate to teach exercises from their chosen level.
The candidate will be asked to choreograph and teach unseen enchaînements at a specific level.
The candidate will then dismiss the students and will be asked questions arising from the class and any other aspects taken from the points to follow.
EVALUATION PART 1
Candidates will be examined on their knowledge and teaching of Basic Ballet Principles and how they apply to:
The teaching of young children up to Grade 3
(a) The knowledge of the syllabi.
(b) The development of technique in the Cecchetti method of training from Primary to Grade 3.
(c) The theory of the technique and principles as laid down in the Cecchetti Method.
(d) Have an understanding of common faults and teaching methodologies relating to the syllabi.
(e) Posture
Correct stance.
Show an understanding of basic anatomy.
(f) Teaching of Port de bras.
(g) Teaching of Adage.
(h) Teaching of Pirouettes.
(i) Teaching of Allegro.
(j) Music and Musicality.
Have an ability to count any exercise, demonstrating the correct tempo, accent and quality required and be conversant with the ways in which music can be counted.
Lead the pianist and dancers confidently into the start of an exercise.
Show understanding of musical phrasing to enhance a movement.
Have the ability to communicate with the pianist in basic musical terminology.
NEW ASSOCIATE DIPLOMA PART 2 - ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Age 17 years and above
Passed Cecchetti Intermediate
Have passed Associate Diploma Examination Part 1
First Aid Certificate
Working with Children Check
Examination must be taken at the Centre.
Organisation will supply 2,3 or 4 assisting students.
Students should be Grade 6 level.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT?
NEW
Age 17 years as in Part 1
Successfully completed the Intermediate Examination or above
Examination results not required
Does not have to have completed 2 years teaching in the Cecchetti Method in a responsible position.
Level of student supplied should be working on grade 6
No set study hours of Anatomy, Music, Business and Early Childhood Development.
Knowledge and Demonstration of any exercise from the Intermediate Syllabus
End or Course Assessment in Anatomy and Early Childhood Development can now be completed either during Part 1 or Part 2.
OLD
• Age 18 years.
• Successfully completed the Advanced 1 Examination.
• 2 years Examination results.
• Have completed 2 years teaching in the Cecchetti Method in a responsible position.
• Set study hours of Anatomy, Music, Business and Early Childhood Development.
• Knowledge of set ADV 1 exercises.
• End of Course Assessment in Anatomy and Early Childhood Development could only be completed in part 2 diploma.
END OF COURSE ASSESSMENT IN ANATOMY AND EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT REMAINS THE SAME EXCEPT IT CAN BE DONE AT ANY TIME
PART 2 EXAMINATION PROCESS
Prior to entering the examination room the candidate should introduce themselves to the students who have been provided by the organisation in the dressing room or warm up room. The candidate may take an unmarked Grade 1 - 6 book (compiled by Mr. William Carse) into the examination room.
The candidate enters the room, and the examiners will question them regarding their teaching experience i.e. are they teaching in their own school, employed by a qualified Cecchetti teacher or other.
The assisting students will enter the room and the candidate will introduce the students. Students should be numbered or named for ease of identification.
The examiners will then commence the 1 1/2 hour examination consisting of set exercises from Grade 4-6. The candidates may listen to the first few bars of music to assist with recall of the syllabi.
The candidate will be expected to establish a good rapport with both the students and the pianist.
The candidate should teach each exercise to the assisting students proving they have a good knowledge of the syllabi.
The candidate must correct the students but in the case of weaker students should concentrate on two or three aspects of their work. The examiners may question the candidate on other aspects of the work when the students have left the room. The candidate will be totally in charge of instructing the pianist.
No questions will be asked of the candidate whilst the students are present. The examiners will make notes of relevant questions to ask the candidate after the students have left the room.
The students will leave the room at the end of the class. However, one or more students may be asked to remain to enable the examiners to ask the candidate to work in a more individual situation.
The candidate can be asked to show any build-up from Grade 4 to Grade 6 and Intermediate.
The candidate can be asked to make up an unseen enchaînement appropriate to the level chosen by the examiners.
The candidate will then be asked to demonstrate to the best of their ability aspects of selected steps/enchaînements from the entire Intermediate syllabi. The Examiners may ask about the qualities of the exercises demonstrated.
PART 2 EVALUATION
Candidates will be examined on their knowledge and teaching of Basic Ballet Principles and how they apply to:
The teaching of students Grade 4 to Grade 6.
(a) The knowledge of the syllabi.
(b) The development of technique in the Cecchetti Method of training from Grade 4 up to and including |intermediate.
(c) The theory of the technique and principles as laid down in the Cecchetti Method.

Have suitable vocal qualities, manner, and general approach to teaching.

(m) Use of imagery within teaching strategies.
