About the Division: The Environmental Engineering division is one of the five divisions of the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Hyderabad. Currently, the division has five distinguished faculty members who work in the areas of Water and Wastewater Engineering, Solid Waste Management, Environmental Health, Environmental Nanotechnology, Environmental Microbiology, Contaminant Transport, and Air Pollution. The division has four laboratories: Water and Wastewater Engineering Lab, Environmental Microbiology Lab, Environmental Systems Lab, and Environmental Nanotechnology Lab. In addition, the division has a state-of-the-art Environmental Instrumentation Facility that houses high-end equipment like GCMS, LCMS-QTOF, ICPMS, etc.
The division is committed to providing students with a high-quality education in Environmental Engineering. The faculty members are experts in their fields in terms of teaching, research, and mentorship. All the laboratories are well-equipped and students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience in Environmental Engineering. The faculty members have strong national and international collaborations and funded projects that address a variety of environmental issues related to Water Quality, Environmental Health, Air pollution, and Waste management.
The division has a strong track record of graduating students who go on to successful careers in Environmental Engineering. The division is actively involved in outreach activities to promote environmental awareness.
