about me

Welcome to our classroom! I am very excited about this school year and getting to know your children. We are set for an exciting year!

A little about me... this will be my 10th year at St. Matthew School and I am blessed to call this my work home. I spent 8 awesome years as part of the 8th grade team teaching grammar and composition, sharing my love of writing and furthermore preparing our students for the challenge of high school before I decided to take the plunge last year and come to 5th grade full time. I hope to continue to share my love of reading and writing with your children as well as teach them Science and join them in their faith journey through Religion.

My husband Mike and I have three children that attended St. Paul in Westerville and St. Francis DeSales High School. Our two oldest daughters now attend and swim for Xavier University while our son is in his Junior year at SFD. My husband and I fill our time volunteering at various events as well as watching our kids compete in swimming, golf and basketball. I certainly understand the value of a Catholic education, co-curriculars and a busy schedule!

I earned my BS in Elementary education with a minor in English Communications from John Carroll University as well as a certification from Notre Dame College in Specified Learning Disabilities. I later received my Masters from Western Michigan University in Reading. Last year I finally reached my goal of Masters +18! I strive to remain current in educational research and trends, as well as technology.

Prior to teaching 8th grade at St. Matthew, I taught 7th grade and High School but nothing has challenged me like our rescue dog, Charlie! She adds craziness to our life daily and provides lots of stories for our classroom!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at recummins@cdeducation.org (note the E).

I am looking forward to a great year of watching your children grow in their faith journey and continue to develop as learners through challenges, risks and success!
