Sound Sensible
Sound Sensible is an early literacy instructional program with a focus on phonological awareness. In our classroom we focus on auditory lessons to help students recognize sounds and rhymes, manipulate and change sounds in words, and to connect letter sound relationships. Phonological awareness provides students with foundational skills for reading and writing.
Letters and Key Words
In sound sensible students are introduced to letters and key words. The key words aim to help students recall the letter sound. For most letters this is associated with the beginning sound of the word. When working on these lessons we say the letter name, the letter sound, and the key word. The following slide deck contains the letters of the alphabet and their key words. Please note that in our classroom we focus mainly on consonants and the short sound for letter A.
