As students enter 8th grade they should be figuring out ways to keep themselves organized, so we do not demand that every student have a large binder as long as they have another way to keep themselves organized.
Planners are also not required, but strongly encouraged, especially if your student struggles with keeping track of their assignments.
We also have a limited supply of pencils that we will lend to students until they are gone. Please consult the following list for supplies that are required and those that are optional.
Required:
2 composition notebooks (for ELA and social studies)
Post-it notes- at least one 3x3 pad
Folders/binder- students can choose whether they would prefer a whole binder with folders or just folders (at least five) to organize class materials.
Calculator (non-graphing, please don't go spending $180 on a ti-84 calculator whose features we will not use! Due to broken calculators each year I will only have a limited number available)
Not Required, But Helpful:
Colored Pencils
Lined paper/notebook
Writing utensils (pens, pencils).
Academic planner
We are often asked if there is anything else we need for our classrooms, so we have created a wishlist on Amazon that has some supplies we usually buy for ourselves, but would appreciate it very much if someone wanted to help us out with some of the supplies. We do a lot of hands-on projects in 8th grade and that requires a variety of supplies. We have put a number of those supplies on the list in addition to several different boxes of pencils if you want to help our class pencil supply stay full. If you would like to check out the list, you can go here to see it.
Thank you!
