Methods of Hiding

While just hiding a Jewish person may seem simple at first, it was a lot more complicated for the family involved. They had to keep watch for any Nazis around and if there was an inspection, a Jewish person simply hiding in the basement would be found quickly.

Some families had a special hidden room built into their house, while others had to improvise and buy special tables with hidden compartments in them. A few families decided to just try to shelter the Jews in bedrooms, and most of them were caught almost instantly by either nosy neighbors or a sharp-eyed Nazi.

Concealed rooms like these were often used.
