Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship

St. Matthew School has made great strides in providing support for our special needs students. Although funding from the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship has provided additional intervention services, we remain limited in the level of support offered. We look closely at the needs of each individual child to help determine whether St. Matthew has the appropriate resources available to allow for his or her success. We try to make all of our decisions based on what is best for the child.

The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students who are eligible to attend kindergarten through 12th grade and have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from their district of residence. The amount of each scholarship will be based on the disability identified on the student’s IEP.

Becoming a JPS Provider enabled St. Matthew to significantly increase services for our special needs students. Since 2014, we have hired two additional intervention specialist and two additional aides. Scholarship students also receive before or after school tutoring, free summer tutoring, and additional inclusion support.
