8 x 11, Graphite drawing, 2025
I really enjoy bird watching and i wanted to try drawing one for a challenge. I started off drawing a rough sketch and trying to get all the proportions right and once I got that all down I started to add detail and life into the bird. My drawing symbolizes the grace and stature of the bird by showing it in details you cant always see in real time. By starting over many different times trying to get the proportions right i finally got a good sketch and proceeded trying to add texture and dimension into the piece. It is supposed to represent a realistic bird but it is not a hyperrealistic drawing.
11x17, chalk pastel, 2025
My idea was inspired by a picture of a beach in Oregon. I thought it was really cool and would be a great project to try. i used pastel on a black sheet of paper and i think it worked really well. the black paper fit in well and helped give the appearance that its night time. all of the blending in the sky using pastel made it really easy make it look good and natural. theres not much symbolism but i like that it sort of represents the peaceful simplicity of nature. one of the hardest things was getting the sky to blend in with the horizon. Eventually i settled on a white horizon that blended into a darker blue then purple sky. This artwork is a simplistic representation of nature.

8.5x11, Mixed Media, 25
I went fishing with my dad last weekend and it inspired me to make a project that involved fishing. I liked the idea of a bobber in the water because I think it shows the peacefulness of the sport. when I came up with the idea I thought it would also be cool to make it with mixed media because I haven't done a project like that yet this year. I started by doing a sketch of what I wanted the finished project to look like and what the layout should be. then i thought about what colors I would need on the picture. then i got a bunch of magazines and started searching through and looking for the colors I needed. When I made this project I wanted it to be a big image that when looked at further showed much more than you would originally notice. I wanted to show this because thats what life is often times where you look at something as a whole it looks simple but when you break everything down and take a closer look you see a lot more of what makes it what it is. I struggled the most with the layout and getting everything to stand out. I like the way it turned out but if I were to start over id try and make everything look a little more separated because right now it blends together quite a bit. this artwork is more realistic looking because I used real photographs to put it together. I love this piece because it is uniqe to every other piece i've ever done.
