My idea was a portrait of someone holding up a buck. I got this idea because I love hunting so it was one of the first things that popped in my head. I found a picture on my phone that I liked and that’s how I knew what I wanted to draw. My inspiration probably comes from the experience of actually deer hunting. The thrill of shooting one or just seeing one and having it come into range. The excitement and the nervousness. The first thing I did was paint a background. I started just with something simple and painted blue and green. After that, I printed a picture and put it over wax paper that has some power that sticks to the paint so you can see the outline. After I got the outline I started painting the deer. I mixed some colors for the body and antlers. The picture really doesn’t have any meaning it’s just me showing what I enjoy. I want my audience to think about nature and to get out more. The hardest part for me would be the background. I wanted to make it look like it was in the timber more I couldn’t draw the leaves and sticks on the ground and I couldn’t draw the tress. If I could change anything I would definitely change the background. I love how good it came out for me. I love the antlers and the deer themselves. I also love the trees that the teacher helped me with.

When I was thinking about my next painting I wanted to do something of landscape and I thought of big beautiful mountains or a beautiful sunset. I’m not talented enough for the mountains so I decided to go with the sunset. I found a picture I really liked and then took some things off so it’s not copying the other person. I started with the background first just red orange yellow after that Mrs. Dunleavy helped me mix all of them together by adding white and water. After that, she helped me by outlining the tree, swing, and rocks. I want people to look at this artwork and think what a cool place that would be to stay at. The hardest part for me was getting the colors to mix to make it look like a sunset. When you go outside and look up in the sky the colors are mixed together. I love the blacked-out things in the painting. It really helps the sky pop out.
