Nick Arnold “Clay Monster”

This is an abstract work of art.
I wanted to make a sword in stone but then it turned into a rock monster.
Probably all of it. The head split in half and it turned out terribly.
I guess I like how the head split in half. It gave it a bit of a twist if you can even call it that.

When I first started, I wanted to have a base and legs but as I went on and started sculpting I soon realized that there would be stability issues so I did without the legs and the base as well because I thought that if I made the torso flat it would work just as good.
The proportions of the arms are a bit... out of place. One is bigger and slimmer and the other one is thicker and not as widely curved.
I love the message of the sculpture and it’s to represent that you should spend less time worrying about what everyone else thinks about you and you should learn to love yourself for who you are.

This work of art started out as a mold. It was a mold I chose because I thought it would come out interesting and to my surprise, it did!
I would change the glaze. Looks a bit off and there are some parts that didn’t come out so well.
I like how well the mold came out after it was fired, I was sure it wouldn’t survive that process.
