Miles Manatt "FCA Club Logo"
Hello, I am Miles Manatt, I am a logo designer, I design soccer club logos for teams around the country. This logo is a simplistic soccer club logo. FCA stands for Football Club America. FC is a traditional abbreviation for soccer clubs. You should choose this logo because it is very modern and simple. It may be basic but sometimes less is more. It also can be easily recognized as it uses strong primary colors and draws in your attention. You can also tell that it is a soccer logo because of the small soccer ball that brings it all together.
My first idea was to create a tribute project for my favorite football player of all time, Cam Newton. I got my idea from thinking about what are my favorite things and then I thought about football and my favorite players. Then I chose to do the project on my favorite football player, Cam Newton.
My first step in the process of the project was to find the images under the Creative Commons license of Cam Newton. Then I inserted the images of Cam into a Photoshop document. I used the erase background tool and moved the images around to my liking. Then I put the words, Cam Newton, in. Finally, I played with the opacity of the images and it was done.
The artwork means the impact that Cam Newton had on the game of football, and I want the audience to think about Cam Newton when he played and how amazing he was.
The most difficult thing for me was to find the right spacing and size of the images. I tried multiple things before finally settling. I would not change anything except for the background if I started over.
This style of art is non-objective. What makes it unique to my style is the images I chose and how I placed the images on the document. I love the images that I chose because they remind me of when I used to watch Cam play when I was younger.
My first idea when finding one for this project was finding a subject that had a lot of words that apply to it. My mind immediately went to football because of all of the terminology and the things you can do with a football. I then started thinking of those words and putting them in the shape of a football.
My first step in the process of making this project was thinking of the words. I came up with nine different words that describe things you can do with a football such as throw it. Then I used the tools and techniques we were taught to put the words into the shape of a football. To finish it off I made the words different colors to symbolize the football even more.
The artwork means my love for football and how I know so much about it. I want my audience to think about football and what it means to them. There is no symbolic imagery.
The most difficult part for me was changing the colors because it took a while for me to figure out and I had some problems doing so, however, I eventually figured it out through trial and error. If I started over I would try and add more words.
This style of art is abstract because the words are not perfect or in the perfect shape of a football. I love that I finished it because it was the first thing that I have finished in Illustrator.
My original idea with this piece was to show people who I am through pictures and words that I live by. I got the idea from the project assigned by the teacher. It evolved as I brainstormed real ideas for the images and the words.
The process began by thinking of ideas, writing them down in a document, and responding to the questions there. I then took those ideas and found images describing me and what I like to do. Then I took the images into Photoshop and used the lasso tool to insert the images into different parts of my face. Then I added the words onto the face and changed some colors and fonts. Finally, I used saturation and hue to emphasize certain parts of the artwork.
The artwork means that you do not truly know everything about everyone and you can always learn a little more about someone. I want the audience to think about the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover." This project is a great representation of this phrase.
The most difficult part was finding images that were high enough resolution so they did not look blurry. I overcame these problems by finding a website called Skitter Photo that had high-resolution photos. The thing that I would change if I were to start over would be to make the deer less bright.
This art is abstract and has some similarities to a collage. What makes it unique to me is that it is things I like and words that I live by. I love that it shows people my interests and what I love.
