Cookie Vessel
Made a base and decided to keep going up, no actual reason for it. It was inspired by some of Alex Jordan's works.
I went up multiple layers at a time so as to keep it straight. I used my hands for smoothing.
My purpose was to fill up the kiln with this one creation. I would like my audience to look at this as potential versus usage. There is no symbolism in Cookie Vessel.
My most difficult part was smoothing out. James Woolard II helped greatly with smoothing. I would make it straighter.
Non-Objective. It's tall. I don't really love anything about it.
Scherer Dynasty
Supposed to be a boat. I wanted a boat and decided to try one. I was once on a pontoon so I took some inspiration from that.
I covered a bowl with clay and carved the excess off.
There's not much meaningful about it. I want viewers to think of water.
Finding the right way to keep it upright. I had help. I would make it sturdier on the sides.
Non-objective. It was made up along the way. Nothing in particular.
Supposed to be a pot, turned out a little wonky from the middle. I took no inspiration, just went with the flow.
I shaped it with my hands and put glaze on it.
Nothing meaningful about it. It can hold liquids but doesn't. I want viewers to think about forests.
Finding the right color to glaze it. I'd make it more aligned/symmetrical.
Non-objective. Went with the flow. The color.
Charcuterie Suprema
Supposed to be charcuterie bowls. I wanted to make a big bowl with others on side, didn't work so went with this. No inspiration.
I had major help from Ms. Garrity who shaped it.
Nothing meaningful. I'd like viewers to think of turtles.
Finding right glaze for it. I'd make it a big bigger and more glaze.
Non-objective. Went with the flow. The shape.
