"A Night In Las Nevadas"

11x14, Magazine Clippings, Glue, Paper, Water Color Pencils, Alchohol Markers, Paper, 2021

My idea was to make a piece of one of my favorite characters, Quackity. I was inspired by Quackity’s story and how his character acts because of the type of environment he is in. I started by finding all of the magazine pieces I needed. Then I started with the background because that was my collage part. Then I added the foreground which was the character. The artwork represents the way life has an effect on people. Where you grew up and the people you surround yourself with have a huge impact on you. It was very difficult for me to go from digital art to doing traditional. It was also hard because I have never made anything this big before, and I also have never done the background this way. If I would have done something different, I would have made the price smaller. It's easier for details, and just takes less time. The artwork is surreal. It is unique to my style because I got to draw Quackity the way I always do outside of big projects, whether it’s small sketches or doodles. I love the way the background turned out with the bright colors and the eyes. I also like how much his character pops with the highlighter.

"See Me"

Size, Magazine Clippings, Glue, 2021

My idea started by me just looking through an art magazine and seeing a ton of different paintings and drawings of these well-posed women. I thought the images were really pretty so I wanted to find a beautiful way to combine them. To me, this art piece is all about how women are perceived in society. Between inequality, and different standards society has, it expresses how someone could feel like someone is always watching to see if they are doing things “correct or the right way” I find that collages come easy to me, but the thing I struggled with the most was trying to vocalize my opinion through the art piece. I overcame it by diving right into the project and going with what my gut said to do. If I could do it over again I would probably just start out with a base because I added some of the pictures of the people first instead. The style is surreal and is unique to me because I like to make collages very busy and interesting to look at. I love this piece because I think the colors of all of it look really amazing together and almost feel welcoming and cozy.
