My idea for this drawing was to use not only black and white, but also color and have them blend together seamlessly. I started off with the portrait idea and started on the black and white side. Starting with the eyes I began to shade and moved out from there to the rest of the face. Then, I focused on the colored side and worked on blending that into the black and white side. When I was finished with the base, I added more details and finishing touches including the background. The artwork is supposed to express that people have good times, and bad times. The darker side is supposed to represent the dark side or the bad times in our life, and the colored side is the good times in our lives. The most difficult part in this project was the details and making this look realistic. I did think about starting over because I made mistakes but I decided to stick with it to see what I could create in the end. The style of art is realistic/surreal. This project is personal to me because I have dealt with a lot of "bad times" and "good times" in my life and I wanted to express that in this portrait.
