Painting Two

The Dove

The idea behind this painting is that it is a dove in flight, specifically half of the dove. Showing off the bird's great wingspan and feathers. This was inspired by when I was sitting in front of my window one day and a dove flew up, faced me for a moment, and then flew off.  The power behind the bird's flight, and how controlled it was with its own body left me in awe. So I chose to paint the bird and decided to think of a bit of symbolism behind it as well. The symbolism is the message behind a pure white dove, a message of peace. The dove is a symbol of peace and happiness and spirituality,  but in todays culture, spirituality has begun to not be able to be inclusive. People use spirituality as a means to tell other people how to live, and to tell people how they view the world as wrong. This goes against the very idea of spirituality and has left me with my own struggles with it, but I feel the dove symbolizes the idea of continuing to be yourself and be with spirit.

The space sky

This is a painting of a pastel version of space, with stars and planets swirling around it. One planet in particular is purple and has a large purple ring. This is inspired by my own obsession with space and the stars, with a glittery rings around the planet and how it's oddly not connected to any star or sun. The symbol behind the planet not having any sun connected to it is a personal one, its a narrative of my life and how sometimes I feel like a floating planet without a sun to connect with. The pastel pink background also shows this, as It shows how it isnt space how people normally perseive it.
