My artwork is a drawing of a street called DeWitt which is in Chicago, I got the picture from Seth Cummins and decided to draw it. It took a lot of time to draw this because I had to make sure the sketch was good, and then the coloring took lots and lots of time to make sure I got the colors and blending in my piece that I really liked and wanted. This drawing was made of colored pencils and colored chalk pencils. I did a lot of blending for this picture to make sure it looked a bit abstract but still realistic at the same time and I think I made it how I imagined it so I really like it. My friend Seth Cummins takes a lot of really beautiful and great pictures and actually wants to be a photographer, and so he was nice enough to let me take his picture and draw it for more people to see. I would definitely like if my drawing and his picture were side by side so everyone could see both of our different styles of art. What I learned from this drawing, is that I have to be very picky about the type of colored pencils I use because some don't blend as good, and some aren't the same shades or some even rip the paper, so I had to be very careful.Â
This is the drawing of my dad. It is made out of colored pencils and colored charcoal. I tried to do a lot of highlights and shadowing to make it look nice and more realistic. I drew this because the original picture is one of the only pictures I have of my dad truly smiling, with me and all of my sisters. I think this is one of the better pieces of artwork I've done of a person that looks realistic. I really like this drawing and how I colored it, and I think it's better than I thought it would be so I'm really happy about it. I think the colors blended really nice, along with the shading and highlighting.
This is a drawing of Spencer Charnas, the singer of Ice Nine Kills. This is from a picture I took while at one of his concerts. I made this all out of colored pencils. This took a while to draw, because I decided to make the drawing small, which made it hard to do details, especially while using colored pencils. I decided to draw this because I thought originally the picture was really cool looking and would be fun to draw. My goals as an artist, is to get better with realism, but I don't think this helped achieve my goals, and I think it would have been a lot better if I had used something other than colored pencils so it'd be easier for details, and blending. I also don't use color in my artwork, so that's why all of these drawings have been with color so I can get out of my comfort zone. I think this helped me learn what I should and shouldn't do for a drawing, and helped me figure out what sizes of drawings I am better at.
