Madison Lawrence “avocado”
9by12, acrylic on paper, 2019
How I got my idea was I was looking online for ideas and I kept seeing avocados, and I love avocados. So then I was just thinking and I was thinking that I could put the avocado on bricks, and make the avocado split open like someone cut it. I would like the audience to notice the lighting I have on top because it makes the avocados pop out. I also would like them to notice the highlights I put on the avocados. One thing I would change if I started over would be take the bricks out and make the avocados bigger and keep the blue background. The thing I love about this painting is how I did the avocados because it actually looks like a real avocado.

I love sunsets so I decided to make a sunset from a beach. One thing that I think that the audience should notice is the highlights I did to reflect off the sun, birds, palm tree and the water. I also like how I did the waves with the highlights to reflect off the sun to the water. One thing I would change is the palm tree because it’s not that good and doesn't really look like a real palm tree. I love how I did the background with the different pinks, also the waves and highlights.

I’ve always waited to paint something out of my league and I was just looking in my camera roll and I saw a picture of my Grandmas dog and I was just thinking that I could paint it, then after I was done with it I could give it to her. I would like the audience to notice the dog’s face because it pops out and it actually looks real. If I had to start over I would change the grass and do water, usually, the dog was standing in water, but I wanted to change it up and make her stand in the grass. The one thing I love about this painting is how I did the dog’s face and the sky because it really makes the painting pop out and also the texture.
Madison Lawrence “Turtle”
9by12, acrylic on paper, 2019
How I got my idea was that I was just looking on the internet for an animal to paint. And I decided that I wanted to paint an easy sea animal. I liked how I did the water of the turtle acting like its swimming, another thing is that how I did its back and the highlights I did to it. I would like the audience to notice the turtles back because I think it stands out and makes the turtle stand out. If I had to change anything on this turtle it would be that I would make the turtle on land and add sand and shells to make it stand out more instead of having it in the water. The one thing I love about this painting is the turtle because the rest of the stuff I feel like its plan. I also feel like this isn’t my best painting.
