My idea for this project was to have it a pretty blue and tall with a flower print. I got this idea from looking at other pitchers in the art room. Seen all of the pretty blues from other pitchers inspired me to make one just like it.
The process did take a couple of class periods but it was so worth it! First, I got some clay and put it through a slab roller, after that I prepped my clay and I put a flower in-print into the clay. Next I used a template to make the shape and started connecting it together, once I connected it I made a bottom for it, into the klin it goes. The glazing process was easy. First I did 2 coats of oatmeal and I also did it in the inside of it. Next I did 2 coats of sapphire float. The glazing process was so easy and the vase turned out so beautiful.
This artwork means that I like to make tall things and the blue glaze will always be my go too. I want my audience to see the prints and the glaze changes in this piece.
The most difficult part was trying to keep it straight up, It would always slump because of the height when it was dry. I overcame that by letting the clay dry out in the sun so its more workable. If I where to start over I would want to glaze the inside blue for the whole effect.
I love this artwork because of the glaze and the print combined, the blue is really beautiful which makes me love it the most. This project has been my best outcome so far.
I got this idea from my teacher because it was a class project. I think that having to separate dishes combined is a good idea for a chip and dip bowl.
First, I used the slab roler and made a slab, next I put a flower print in it. Next I put a piece of clay with the print on-top of a round Styrofoam that doesn't have a inside so my bowl can drape and I did the same with a small bowl and I measured the clay to fir it. I let it dry like that until it was ready for the klin. Once it came out of the klin I painted my chip and dip bowl a deep red and 1 coat of ancient jasper. I am not pleased with the color of bowl but I still like it.
I want my audience to think about how useful this artwork is and the true meaning on it. This artwork means that you can connect 2 bowl into 1 for a meaning.
The most difficult part for me was making the drape affect because my clay was too wet which made it hard for it to keep its shape. I would change the color if I could because I don't like the ancient jasper on it.
This artwork is realistic to me because you are able to use it. I really do love the concept of it but I do wish I can make a new one for better results.
My idea behind this project is those cookies that you get at the grocery store. Me and my friends always eat them so that inspired me to do them.
First I made the perfect cookie crust size out of clay, next I made the frosting my rolling it out and adding riffles on the side for the dripping of the frosting and attached that to the crust. Next I rolled out a skinny line and cut it to make sprinkles and attached them to the cookie and then they are ready for the klin. Finally I painted them, I painted the crust like a light brown and the frosting a light pink, next I painted the sprinkles rainbow colors like they are at the store. I repeated this process 2 times for 2 cookies. I think that these cookies look like the real thing and i'm pleased with the results.
When my audience sees this artwork I want them to recognize what they are and see that they look identical. I want me and my friends to get a laugh out of seeing it because we really enjoy them.
The most difficult thing for me was painting the cookie because I felt like it was hard to paint the sprinkles and get the right colors. I overcame this by doing multiple coats so it wouldn't look sloppy. If I could start over I would maybe make all the colors a little bit lighter so it looks more real.
I love this project because its so simple but easy to make. I really like how these look far away but from close up i can improve and I hope to do that in the future.
I got this idea from my mom, my mom said that we needed a spoon holder for the soups so I decided to make 2 and a utensil holder. I was inspired by pintrest to do the blue one and my art teacher inspired me to to the red one with the wavy edges.
First, I decided on what size I wanted it to be, so I decided to roll out clay for a slab. Then I used a foam round circle thing to make the circle part and from there I did my own measurement's. Once I made the first one which was the blue one I decided to make another one. For this process I traced the blue one so the red one is the exact same size. The red one was harder to make the walls, my art teacher told me to make the walls wavy so thats what I decided to do. Once the 2 spoon holders where ready to go into the klin I decided to make a jar for the utensils and I rolled out a slab and pressed a flower print into it and connected it and then it was ready for the klin. I started glazing the blue one first, I painted the inside a nice green and the outside a deep blue. I used a paint brush and splattered it in the inside of the green for a cool effect. Next I glazed the red one, I glazed it a deep red since I thought it would be good for the holidays. Finally I glazed the utensil holder several coats of river rock. This was a lengthy project, but it turned out really good.
I want my audience to see the use for these pieces of artwork. I want my family to see the use for it and how we will use it. Its symbolic by the red spoon holder since its holiday colors.
The most difficult part of this is how long everything took. I really struggled with the red spoon holder since the clay was so wet. In this project I would change how I pressed the print into the utensil holder since it didn't show up that well.
This artwork is realistic to me because you are able to use it for spoons. I like the concept of it and I think it was very needed in my house, so im happy I could make it.
My idea behind this project is to having somehwere to put my jewelry. I got this idea from my self since I wanted somewhere to put my jewelry.
First, I rolled out a slab of clay and I decided to use a foam circle thing to trace the bottom part. Next I rolled out to coils and I twisted them together and used slip to attach it to the base and it was ready for the klin. I really wanted it to be a pink glaze so I did several coast of chum plum but it turned out more red. This process was very short and simple.
I want my people to see my work and know what its for and what it means. I want it to be used for jewelry and I want people to imagine it somewhere to put your earrings and necklaces.
The most difficult part of this project was doing the twist side. This was very difficult because my clay kept cracking and breaking, but I used water to make it easier. If I could change something about this is would be the glaze color. I wish that the glaze was more pink or purple.
I feel like this artwork is realictic because it could be used everyday for many uses. I like the simplicity of it and it will look good in my room. I love how I can use it for my jewelry so now I can put all of it in it.
I got this idea from knowing in my house we don't have really an cool or fun mugs. I got this idea from myself since I wanted to make a set of mugs for my family. I was inspired to make fun handles because I thought they looked really good and fun.
First I started on the deer antler cup. I rolled out a slab and a circle using a foam circle thing to make the actual cup and I used slip and a scoring tool to attached everything and I also used a sponge and my finger. Then I made a coil and attached it as the base. Next I made a little coil to make the antler part and it turned out really good. Finally for that cup I glazed it a tan color to represent the antler color. For my second cup which is the teal one I did the same process of making the cup as the deer antler one. Then I rolled out a coil to make the handle. for this handle I just kinda messed around with it and made it kinda unique. Then I painted it a light teal glaze since I thought the color was very pretty. For my third cup I wanted it to be Christmas themed so I decided to make the handle like a candy cane. I repeated the cup process for the third time and for the handle I rolled out 2 coils and twisted them together for the candy cane effect and attached it to the cup. Finally to glaze it, I decided the base to be a deep red and them I did the same deep red and a white glaze for the handle part and it turned out really good. Lastly, my fourth cup. I decided to make it for my brother since he likes to drink hot chocalate. I repeated the cup process for the last time and made a normal handle. onec I did that I attached the handle and then I decided to use the letters to put his name in the cup which is "Beckham." Finally I decided to glaze it a blue glaze since they always turn out the best. This process was pretty long but it was worth it.
This artwork means that you can make simple stuff like mugs for your house very easy. I want my audience to think about how you can use it for hot drinks and its very useful for drinking pretty much anything.
The most difficult part for me was making the handles since my clay would always dry out. I overcame this by using a lor of slip and water to make the handles easier to work with. If I could start over I would reglaze the teal cup since I don't like how it doesn't look shiny.
This style of artwork is realistic since you can use it for drinking and a lot more thing's you think you could use it for. I feel like its unique by the handle shapes and how you don't seem a deer antler one everyday. I love how useful these mugs will be to me and my family and I love the handles.
My idea behind this was to make a bowl that is functional for anything. I called it snack bowl because I will eat my snacks from it. This idea evolved by having to make something off the wheel so I choose to do a bowl.
First I prepped the clay for the wheel. I wedge a softball size piece of clay for my base on the bowl. Then I gather tools such as a sponge and a ribbed tool to help me keep this under control as well as a bucket with water. Then I put my clay on the wheel and started it up, I centered my clay so it would be a good bowl. Next I used my thumbs to start applying pressure to make the actual bowl. I used a variety of techniques to make this bowl and they worked really well. Now since my bowl is done, I will trim the bottom so its smooth and into the klin it goes. I glazed this a dark purple color but it turned out more red. This process was very fun since I really like the wheel.
This artwork shows the audience the power of a wheel because it shows you can make many things on the wheel. This artwork is for food things which is symbolic in my mind.
The most difficult part for me was getting started on the wheel since its very hard for a beginning. If I could change something I wish I could make more bowls but now in the future I will have better skills.
This style of art is realistic since you can use it for food and stuff like that. This in unique since it was made on a wheel which is pretty cool to me. I love using wheel and I want to do it more.
My idea behind this is to make some decoration for my house so I took that in consideration when pouring these molds. I picked the care bear because its from my childhood and I think its really cute. I decided to do the bunny since i've seen some around the art room that were very cute.
To start this project I need to create slip. I used my old clay for my tub and I started cutting it up in coin sized balls and then I put it in a tub and filled it with water until the balls where covered and I let it sit for 2 days. Once it sat for 2 days, I used my hands and a potato masher to break up the clumps. Once I did that my slip was like peanut butter and ready to pour. I picked out a care bear mold and a bunny and started pouring it which my art teacher helped me do. Once they were out of the mold I trimed it up and then it was ready for the klin. I decided to glaze my bunny a light gray color since most bunnies are that color and I added details like eyes and a pink nose and the inside of the ears pink. I painted the care bear a lime, shimmery green color. Then I painted details like painted the starts yellow and added a face, painted the rainbow on the belly and painted the facial features like the eyes, nose, month and ears. This process was very easy.
This artwork shows how you can pour slip into a mold and it will turn out really good. I want my audience to see how my pieces can be used for decoration and see they colors that they have.
The most difficult part was making the slip because it was really hard to get rid of all the clumps. I overcame this by using my hands which really helped. It I could start over I wished I trimmed my bunny better, so it looks like one piece.
I feel like this artwork is is realistic because it shows real life things. I feel like its unique because on the shimmery green on the care bear is really eye catching. I love home simple and easy these pours were. I love the simplicity of this project.
