McKenzie Fischer "HAPPY FALLLLLLL"

18x24, colored pencils, 2020

I got my idea from it being the fall season and seeing all of the different colored leaves on the ground I wanted to get a couple leaves and glue them on to my project. I did a project similar to this one last year so I thought I would do another one but get some real leaves. First I traced the big letters “FALL” and then I did the leaves. I did some overlapping techniques and I did some small and big leaves also. This artwork means “fall” and I want my audience to think that it’s starting to get cold outside and the leaves are changing. The thing that was most difficult for me was having the real leaves stick because I couldn’t find the right glue at first, but then I found the right glue and they started to stick. If I started over I would use chalk instead of colored pencils. I think the style of art my project is would be “realistic” because the leaves are real and it just looks really real. I love the colors I picked, it just makes it more unique and realistic.

McKenzie Fischer “rise and shine rooster”

16x16, colored pencils and chalk, 2020

I got my idea from a family friend that wanted me to make them a rooster for Christmas. First I traced the rooster on the white board and then I added all of the little details on my own. After I started coloring and I used chalk first, I put yellow chalk all over and then added some orange and brown. Eventually for the feathers I used a lot of orange and brown for colored pencils to make it more realistic. I think this artwork means “nature” or “farm” because you will see a lot of roosters on the farm out in nature. I think the most difficult part of this project was making the eyes really realistic but I got it done. I used a lot of white colored pencils to do some shadows. This project is realistic. I think it is very unique because I have never done anything like that, and if nobody asked me to draw that for them I probably would never do a rooster. So I’m glad they asked because I got to experience something new. I love the colors and how it looks so realistic.
