Kallie Burzlaff "Remembering You"
5x7, Acrylic, 2025
I took this picture of a sunset at my house. I have always liked taking pictures of the sunset and I really like painting them. I used acrylic paint and some different sized brushes. The bigger brushes helped me blend the colors of the sky into each other. This artwork symbolizes the beauty of sunsets and how much they mean to people. We I look at this painting I like about all of my loved ones that have passes because sunsets have always been a symbol of that for me. The most difficult thing for me was matching all of the colors. There were many different colors in the original painting that were hard to match. If I could change one thing I would make the colors not as pastel and blend them into eachother more. I would also put more detailing into the grass because it is one solid color. This art is realistic. What makes it unique is I took this picture at my house and no one else has the picture. I love all of the different colors in the sunset and the scenery.
Kallie Burzlaff "Food and Friends"
11x14, Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
I took this picture over summer when I went to crumbl cookies with one of my friends. My idea was to just recreate the original picture. My friends and I often go to crumbl so I thought it would be a good way to remember all the times we went to crumbl together. I used a canvas with acrylic paint. I used multiple different small brushes for the detailing. I did a lot of blending and splotching techniques. I also used a black paint marker to draw the words at the end. This artwork symbolizes time spent with friends and family. I want the audience to think about all of the memories that can be made while your getting food with your friends. The most difficult thing for me was the small detailing on each cookies. They are all different textures and colors so the detailing took lots of time. I overcame this by doing a lot of blending and just trying to figure out what would look best on my canvas. If I had to change something I would make the cookies bigger. This way it would be easier to do the detailing. This is a realistic painting. I love that I am able to show me and my friends love for each other and spending time with each other.
Kallie Burzlaff "A Hug that Never Ends"
11x14, Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
I got this idea from a picture that was taken of me and one of my friends after a basketball game. I used acrylic paint and small brushes. The faces have a lot of small details so I needed to use small brushes. I also used a black marker to outline the portrait and then write the sonf lyrics on the background. My artwork represents the bond between me and my friend. We have multiple pictures together hugging which shows our accomplishments and us growing up together. I want the audience to think about their friends and their accomplishments when looking at this painting. What has been the most difficult for me is painting the faces. I am starting to overcome this by tracing the faces and doing a trial and error and just working with it. If I had to start over I would make the whole thing bigger. This would make it easier to paint the faces and get all of the detailing. This is a realistic painting. It is unique to me because I am in the picture and so is one of my best friends. I love that the painting shows other how much we support each other and are there for eachother.
Kallie Burzlaff "Summer Night"
8x10, Acrylic on Canvas, 2025
I got this idea from my baseline painting. I didn't really like how it turned out so I wanted to make another sunset to improve on the things I didn't like. I got the idea from a picture online and then added some of my own things to make it unique. For this painting, I used acrylic paint and lots of different sized brushes. For the sky I used a bigger sized brush to blend the sunset together. I used smaller brushes to add the detailing with the mountains and the grass and water. This artwork symbolizes the beauty of nature. This artwork should make the audience think about summer nights and spending it with your friends and family. The most difficult thing for me was adding the shadowing and highlighting to the mountains and the water. I overcame this by just blending the paint and trying different things. Something I would change if I could start over is making more shadows in the grass, so that I could make it more detailed. This is a realistic painting. What makes it unique is all of the different colors that I used that I had to make myself. I like the background and the colors of it. I like how blended they are and how well they go together.
