I made coasters. I saw someone else make this on Pintrest and it inspired me to make my own. I first cut out two circles by tracing out a circle. I than started to roll little balls to put around the edge's. I then used slip to make sure they stayed in place. This project doesn't symbolize anything. It was very difficult to make the balls stay attached to the base of the coaster. I had a few times when they started to fall off. So I used slip to go over all of it so it stayed in place. If I started over I would've made on coaster at a time. I would have done this because by the time I got to the second coaster it was a lot more dried out and harder to work with.

I made two magnets. One that was a strawberry and the other was a bowl of ice cream. I got this idea because strawberries are my favorite food and I really enjoy ice cream. For the strawberry I shaped a heart type shape with a flat top. I then made a leaf shape for the top. For the ice cream I first made the bowl shape. Then I made the scoops of ice cream and I made sure they would fit on top of each other. These magnets don't have a symbol. It was difficult for me to get the right shape for the bowl I made a ball and started to make a whole inside it. This was difficult to make the right shape I wanted. If I could restart I would connect the ice cream and the bowl before it went into the kiln. Instead I had to hot glue it once it was out. This is supposed to be realistic because it is food. I ove the colors I chose for the bowl and the ice cream.

My dog recently passed this semester so I knew I wanted to make something in remembrance. I decided I wanted to make a paw print and carve his name into it. I slab rolled my clay and then carved out how I wanted my paw print to look. It took be a few tries so I did it very lightly. I then cut it out like a bubble letter so the paw print would all be in one piece. Next I used a utensil to carve the name Lincoln into the clay. This project symbols my dog and what he meant to me. What was most difficult for me was making sure you could see the name. When it first came out of the kiln it was easy to read but as I put glaze on it became harder to read

I wanted to make a 3D flower. I saw someone else do this online and I wanted to try it for myself. I have always loved flowers so I wanted to make one out of clay. I first slab rolled my clay then started to lightly sketch out my flower. Once I got the shape that I liked I used a tool with a shape edge to cut it out. Then I started to round out the petals so they started to curve and go inwards. I did this by using slip and my fingers. Finally I smoothed out the edgeds and carved my name into the bottom. I thought about putting a circle in the middle but I liked how it looked without it. This symbolizes my love for flowers. It was difficult for me to carve out the correct shape that I liked for the flower. It took me a few tries but I ended up liking the way it turned out. If I could start over maybe I would make the indents deeper and more drastic. I love that this project is very simple.

I made a pitcher. This was something we made as a class. I did this by tracing out the shape that I wanted and use the pattern I wanted. I then formed it together and added a coil at the seem. I connected the bottom and added feet to the bottom. It then went into the kiln and I glazed it. When I washed it out I noticed the water was leaking. If I could have done something differently I would have done the coil better on the inside. I made this my own by not adding a handle. I love the color I chose for this.

I made two bowls. I made one small one and one bigger one. I used foam circles to help make the shapes of these. For the smaller one I made the edges wavy by gently pushing inwards. For the bigger one I kept the normal shape but I used a stencil to make a pattern which had flowers on it. I used one color on my small bowl and I used two on my bigger bowl. It was difficult for me to get the right shape. If I could do this again I would make the bigger bowl neater.

The whole class learned to wheel through. Some of my bowls were tall and some were small. We started with two balls of clay. I then made sure my wheel was clean. The first day i used the electric one. We put a piece of clay on the bottom for a place for it to stick. We then threw the ball of clay onto the wheel and started to spin. We then put our hands around the clay to start molding it. I then started to form the clay upwards and back down. Once I thought it was ready I started to make my bowls. I put both my thumbs in to make a hole i the middle. Once my bowl was done I cut it off the wheel. Then I put them in the kiln. Finally they came out and I glazed them. If i could change anything about my bowls I would probably make them more even and less lopsided.
For this we used clay, paint and cardboard. We first painted the background blue then painted clouds white, green grass, and a brown tree. Next we put clay ablls together and painted them for our caterpillar. Next we made a ladybug and a cocoon. Finally we made clay birds. Once it was all done we stared to make our video we did this by starting with the caterpillar moving a little bit each picture. Next we had the birds move down slowly. Next the caterpillar went into the cocoon. Then the birds took the ladybug and the butterfly came out of the cocoon and flew away. We used both normal and watercolor to paint and we used different kinds of brushes depending on what we were making. If I could redo it I would make sure the clay was painted better and I would glue the caterpillar together. Overall, I really enjoyed this project.
