I made coasters. I saw someone else make this on Pintrest and it inspired me to make my own. I first cut out two circles by tracing out a circle. I than started to roll little balls to put around the edge's. I then used slip to make sure they stayed in place. This project doesn't symbolize anything. It was very difficult to make the balls stay attached to the base of the coaster. I had a few times when they started to fall off. So I used slip to go over all of it so it stayed in place. If I started over I would've made on coaster at a time. I would have done this because by the time I got to the second coaster it was a lot more dried out and harder to work with.

I made two magnets. One that was a strawberry and the other was a bowl of ice cream. I got this idea because strawberries are my favorite food and I really enjoy ice cream. For the strawberry I shaped a heart type shape with a flat top. I then made a leaf shape for the top. For the ice cream I first made the bowl shape. Then I made the scoops of ice cream and I made sure they would fit on top of each other. These magnets don't have a symbol. It was difficult for me to get the right shape for the bowl I made a ball and started to make a whole inside it. This was difficult to make the right shape I wanted. If I could restart I would connect the ice cream and the bowl before it went into the kiln. Instead I had to hot glue it once it was out. This is supposed to be realistic because it is food. I ove the colors I chose for the bowl and the ice cream.

My dog recently passed this semester so I knew I wanted to make something in remembrance. I decided I wanted to make a paw print and carve his name into it. I slab rolled my clay and then carved out how I wanted my paw print to look. It took be a few tries so I did it very lightly. I then cut it out like a bubble letter so the paw print would all be in one piece. Next I used a utensil to carve the name Lincoln into the clay. This project symbols my dog and what he meant to me. What was most difficult for me was making sure you could see the name. When it first came out of the kiln it was easy to read but as I put glaze on it became harder to read

I wanted to make a 3D flower. I saw someone else do this online and I wanted to try it for myself. I have always loved flowers so I wanted to make one out of clay. I first slab rolled my clay then started to lightly sketch out my flower. Once I got the shape that I liked I used a tool with a shape edge to cut it out. Then I started to round out the petals so they started to curve and go inwards. I did this by using slip and my fingers. Finally I smoothed out the edgeds and carved my name into the bottom. I thought about putting a circle in the middle but I liked how it looked without it. This symbolizes my love for flowers. It was difficult for me to carve out the correct shape that I liked for the flower. It took me a few tries but I ended up liking the way it turned out. If I could start over maybe I would make the indents deeper and more drastic. I love that this project is very simple.

I made a pitcher. This was something we made as a class. I did this by tracing out the shape that I wanted and use the pattern I wanted. I then formed it together and added a coil at the seem. I connected the bottom and added feet to the bottom. It then went into the kiln and I glazed it. When I washed it out I noticed the water was leaking. If I could have done something differently I would have done the coil better on the inside. I made this my own by not adding a handle. I love the color I chose for this.

I made two bowls. I made one small one and one bigger one. I used foam circles to help make the shapes of these. For the smaller one I made the edges wavy by gently pushing inwards. For the bigger one I kept the normal shape but I used a stencil to make a pattern which had flowers on it. I used one color on my small bowl and I used two on my bigger bowl. It was difficult for me to get the right shape. If I could do this again I would make the bigger bowl neater.

The whole class learned to wheel through. Some of my bowls were tall and some were small. We started with two balls of clay. I then made sure my wheel was clean. The first day i used the electric one. We put a piece of clay on the bottom for a place for it to stick. We then threw the ball of clay onto the wheel and started to spin. We then put our hands around the clay to start molding it. I then started to form the clay upwards and back down. Once I thought it was ready I started to make my bowls. I put both my thumbs in to make a hole i the middle. Once my bowl was done I cut it off the wheel. Then I put them in the kiln. Finally they came out and I glazed them. If i could change anything about my bowls I would probably make them more even and less lopsided.
For this we used clay, paint and cardboard. We first painted the background blue then painted clouds white, green grass, and a brown tree. Next we put clay ablls together and painted them for our caterpillar. Next we made a ladybug and a cocoon. Finally we made clay birds. Once it was all done we stared to make our video we did this by starting with the caterpillar moving a little bit each picture. Next we had the birds move down slowly. Next the caterpillar went into the cocoon. Then the birds took the ladybug and the butterfly came out of the cocoon and flew away. We used both normal and watercolor to paint and we used different kinds of brushes depending on what we were making. If I could redo it I would make sure the clay was painted better and I would glue the caterpillar together. Overall, I really enjoyed this project.

I knew I wanted to paint a picture of my dog since we no longer have him. We had to put him down in February, this was one of my favorite pictures of him. We took the original picture and cropped it to mainly just the face of the dog. To make the colors I mixed a lot of different paints together. I also had to find the right sized brushes for all the little details. When people look at this piece I want them to see a regular dog sitting by the front door. He always enjoyed looking out the door and watching as people walked by. It was difficult for me to do this painting because I wanted to capture what he was like and get it perfect since he's no longer around. I struggled with the eyes of the dog a lot because I wanted them to look realistic, but not scary, I wanted them to look calm and soft. I changed the flowers in the back from the original picture by adding more flowers and dimension in colors. If I could start over I would make the lines of the siding on the house straighter, I would also make the nose a lighter color because his was more brown in real life. I'm not yet satisfied with it I feel like it's not perfect but I knew if I didn't finish it soon I would mess it up and ruin it. This painting is realistic. I like how the flowers add more color and how the fur looks like it has texture. I enjoyed this painting and I am proud of how it turned out even thought it's not perfect.

My idea for this painting was to use an old picture from when my older sister and I were younger and paint it. I knew I wanted to paint a picture of the two of us but I didn't know which one to do. I really liked this one but I thought it would be too hard to paint our faces so I decided to keep them blank. I started by painting the background all on solid tan color and then I used transfer paper with an outline of the picture. I then started with the background, it was hard for me to see the lines from the door in the background without painting over them. To fix this I decided to paint over the lines and I painted the door the off white color I wanted and once it dried I used the transfer paper to do the lines on the door again but this time I used a black marker. To get the color of the background on the wall I had to mix a few different colors to get what I wanted. Then I started to do my sister and I. To do that I did the jeans first, in the original photo we were wearing leggings that looked like jeans. I tried to add dimension so it didn't look like one solid color. I did this by having the outsides of the jeans darker than the inside and using light colors for highlights and a more distressed look. Then I did the color of our skin and our shirts. After I finished that it didn't look like it was done, so I then added some shading into the people and the blanket. This artwork's meaning is to enjoy the moment because you don't realize how fast it goes by. When making this artwork it was difficylt for me to make the hands look realistic and I struggled. If I were to do this again i would make the door in the background better. I would do this by making the lines straighter in the first place. I like this artwork because my sister is someone who is important to me and I look up to in many ways.

When I was making this painting my idea was to do a scenery. I did not take this photo myself but I instead saw it and was inspired to paint it. I started this artwork from the top using watercolor. I tried to do a sunset background fading into the ground. I used blue, purple, pink, yellow, orange and black. Once that dried I used black to make the tree. I really liked how this painting turned out. I think it is very simple so if I redid it maybe I would've picked something more complex. Some technique I used are I didn't use too much water with my watercolor so the colors would be more vibrant and not run together too much. This is my personal style because I like that it seems calm.

When creating this painting my goal was to make it better than the original. Instead I think I focused more on making it look like my original. I believe it doesn't look as good as the first one I made. The second time I made it, it was a different size. The colors in the second one I made are a lot fainter. I think this is because I used more water, I also don't think the tree turned out ass well. I decided I wanted to add more detail and I added a sun but it didn't look right. I decided to paint over it and you could still tell it is there but I actually liked the way it turner out. This time it look more like a moon and I liked the extra detail. I think both paintings are good but the first one I made was more vibrant.
