I painted a red Jordan 4. I painted this on an 8x10 canvas. This painting is a good representation of my object painting. This painting really fits my style. I loved the way this turned out and hope I can use this as motivation to push my painting experience further. I painted this in March, 2025.
(IDEA) I got the idea to make this painting because of my love for shoes. They have always been very interesting to me so I figured I might as well paint one. I chose to do the red because I like how red paint appears on canvases.
(PROCESS) I started off by layering two coats of the grey background. I really focused on making my lines straight and precise. This painting took me a while because of the layering process. It took multiple layers on every white part. This is because of the way the white sat on the grey background.
(SYMBOLISM & ICONOGRAPHY) I want my art to make people see my love for shoes. Not only this, but see the layering detail that went into this painting.
(ARTISTIC GROWTH) The major struggle I suffered during this painting was the webbing holes in the shoe. I couldn't get the thin lines I needed, so I switched tools. I decided to switch to a paint marker which helped me trumendously. I was able to get paint in spots that I couldn't with a brush. The only thing I would change would be the starting points. I would've started on the white parts so I didn't have to spend so much time at the end going over everything to cover the grey completely.
(VISUAL VOICE) The style of art I focused on during this painting was between realistic, and abstract. I believe what makes it personal to me is the close attention to stright and delicate lines. I really tried to keep my lines as straight and precise as possible. I love the way the red looks against the white and black. It really pops out since all of the other colors are darker in shade.
This is the background of the next painting i'm starting. Its a light grey finish on an 8x10 canvas. This piece will be a part of my landscape painting. I hope everything goes smoothly and I can carry out another great painting. I am starting this piece and hoping to finish it in April, 2025.
(IDEA) This piece is going to contain a red/pink sky. This sky will then blend into a smokey white color before reaching some mountain tops. There will be a young tree on the left side of the painting, while also having a bright white crescent moon in the top right corner. I was inspired by a photo I found on the internet.
(PROCESS) So far I have done a bit of mixing between white, and a little bit of black. I did this to reach the perfect shade of light grey that should help my pink sky really stand out. I used a wider brush to cover more area quicker and be time efficient with my background.
(SYMBOLISM & ICONOGRAPHY) I want this piece to help show that sometimes being alone can be beautiful. The tree I will be painting is all alone, but has a beautiful sunset in front. I want it to be a relaxing and calming painting.
(ARTISTIC GROWTH) I have not had any struggles so far, but will probably run into some soon. I have struggled with blending in the past. I'm hoping I can attack things one at a time and will come out of this painting struggle free.
(VISUAL VOICE) This will be a demonstration of realistic art. This art is unique to me because I really value the time I have to myself. I think im going to love the contrast between the pink sky and dusky white mountain tops.
This is the finished product of the painting I described up above. This painting was painted on an 8x10 canvas. This piece demonstrates my landscape portion of this class. I completed this painting in May, 2025.
(IDEA) Another Artwork? I wanted to paint this landscape because of my love for mountains. I always seem to feel like I belong when I go on trips to the mountains, almost like I need to be there. Not only this, but I love pink sunsets. That's what sparked my idea to create a fading pink background.
(PROCESS) This painting took me a while. I would say the water around the trunk of the tree was the hardest. I was struggling to get the white water marks, and then black marks on the other side. I first started by making a light gray background. Then I moved on to fading pink into it so make a sunset like scene. Then I started on the mountains making each one a little darker than the other. Next I created the water and the water marks. Finally, I painted the life of the painting. The living tree and growing grass.
(SYMBOLISM & ICONOGRAPHY) I want people think feel a state of loneliness. Not a negative loneliness, but a positive way. I want viewers to see my painting and recognize how the tree is all alone, but still standing and looking great. I want people to realize how being alone isn't always a bad thing. A lot can be done, even if you feel empty and alone.
(ARTISTIC GROWTH) The water behind the tree was by far the most difficult. I don't understand why, but I couldn't get the water to look right. I over came this by waiting for the gray to dry then layering on the white. If I could start over, I would've saved the color I did for the sky because I needed to cover some spots up at the end but I forgot how to make the color.
(VISUAL VOICE) What do you love about it? This piece is an example of a realistic style of art. Its a realistic style because everything in my painting was from a real photo. What truly makes this piece unique is the meaning I made for it. I love how meaningful it is to me personally and hopefully to it's viewers.
