Jack Arndt, 3" x 3"; "Starfish"
ARTIST STATEMENT: I created a starfish on a rock, and I painted it yellow with spots. I got the idea because I wanted to make something ocean-like for my first project. I searched for things in the ocean, and finally found something I thought was perfect.
Jack Arndt, 3" x 6"; "Pitcher"
ARTIST STATEMENT: I made a pitcher, but it turned out more like a mug. I used jade green stain, and I actually like how it turned out! I should've used stain a bit lower, but it still turned out great.
Jack Arndt, 5" x 5"; "Charcuterie Bowl"
ARTIST STATEMENT: For my charcuterie board, I put a bowl inside of a bowl. I decided to make this so it could be used for chips and salsa, maybe for a family gathering. I like the way the stain turned out, it's black with a little hint of color.
Jack Arndt, 5" x 10"; "Pumpkin Bowl"
ARTIST STATEMENT: For my pumpkin, I mixed yellow, red, and a bit of orange to make the perfect pumpkin color. I painted the stem greenish-brown to make the pumpkin look a bit more realistic. I love the way the pumpkin turned out, as it looks a lot like a real pumpkin, just without the extra details. I could put items inside the pumpkin, like candy or something else during a family gathering, similar to the charcuterie board.
Jack Arndt, 14" x 16" "The City"
ARTIST STATEMENT: I tried to create a city building, and made it look as realistic as possible. I used cardboard to shape the structure and painted it red. I used blue construction paper for the windows, and left the doors open. It ended up looking more like an abandoned building, but I still think it looks good. This isn't really usable in any way, it's more just a form of decoration.
Jack Arndt, 3" x 5"; "Small Cup"
ARTIST STATEMENT: I tried to create a cup, but it didn't end up too well. It cracked a lot, but it's still usable! It's pretty small but it still works, and I like the color it ended up as. It's blue with spots of green, and I like it the way it is. I should have made the cup bigger and smoothed it out a bit more.
Jack Arndt, "Runaway Clay"
ARTIST STATEMENT: I made this stop motion clay project of clay turning into different shapes over time, and I liked how it turned out. It's basic, but interesting, and I named it this way because the clay looks like it runs away in the end. I wish it would've looked a bit better, but I still like the way it turned out.
