HAILEY GREEN " Swans Love"
8x16x6, clay,2024
My idea for this was an animal that showed love. Swans only have one partner for their whole lives and I think that it's such a special thing. The idea was to try and show how close the swans are and how you can tell that they are in love. Swans are such an inspiration to true love and their beautiful creatures. I first started making the bodies of the swans so they looked like lumps of clay at first. Then I made the faces to let the bodies harden so I could connect the necks. After I sculpted the faces I worked on building up the necks and attached them to the body. Lastly, I connected the faces to the neck and then finished them off with glaze. I had to smooth the body a lot and connect the pieces so I used a sponge a lot and smoothing tools. This artwork means the true meaning of love. When people look at my artwork I want them to see the love and to think about Growing old with your love. The necks of the swans were supposed to make a heart to show how connected the swans are. The most difficult part of this piece of work was connecting their necks to the body. In the end, I even had one of the necks break off but we did get them connected again. There also cracks in the body and around the broken neck that I was I wish I could fix. I had to remake the neck several times till I ended up getting it to stand up and I did this by rolling the clay into a cylinder instead of trying to build the neck. I could change anything it would be the color that I used I wish it could be more white instead of a cream color. I also would make the cracks less noticeable as well as make sure that their necks made that heart like I wanted. My piece of artwork is realistic I wanted them to look like real swans. I think that this is me because I believe in true love and I think it's a beautiful thing. I love how the swans turned out to be different sizes one meant to be the male and the other the female. I also love how their faces look they turned out great.
Hailey Green " pot" 18x7 clay 2024
my idea for this work was to make a vase for my mom for motheres day. I first started off by making the bottom of the pot then just coiled up to the top until it was 18in tall. I then just smoothed it out so that the coils didnt show. This artwork dosnt really have a meaning behind it it was more just the thought behind the gift for my mom. The most difficult thing was trying to keep the shape without it caving in on itself. I just fixed this by centering the weight and adding on to the opposite side so that way it was even. If I could change anything it would probably be the color just making it a little more rustic to match my house more. The is a realistic piece of artwork and functional as well its going to hold flowers.
Hailey Green "color pots"
5x3, clay, 2024
My idea with these pots was to make them into a kitchen set. But then half of them broke in the kiln.I got the idea to make the kitchen set because I saw some cute ones on Tik tok and I thought the idea was super cool.
I first started off by putting the clay on the wheel and making them into little bowls that went up in size by each bowl. I had four of them but now there are just two.
This artwork doesn't mean anything serious to me but it was a cute thing I wanted to make for a family member. When people look at this artwork I want them to think of colorful and different art, not something normal.
It was hard for me to paint the bowls I wanted to use acrylic paint which I have never used before and it was hard for me to. I overcame this by just using more paint then I thought I needed. If I could start over I would change the color and I would do little flowers on the bowls because that was my original plan.
This art is sort of abstract. I think that the most unique part of my art is the color. I loved how they turned out. The color is so cool and I really like the way the pots turned out.
Hailey Green "plate"
clay, 2024
My idea for this piece was the make a plate that went along with my bowl set. I got the idea to make the set was off of the internet. I seen some cute ideas so I wanted to try it out.
I started off by making the plate on the wheel with a bawl of clay then I smoothed it down with a rolling pin and some water. I then made the sides with my fingers so that it would have a little lip.
This artwork didn't mean anything special to me but I just wanted a cute kitchen set to use and eat off of. When people look at this artwork I want them to think of something cute that you can use and looks like someone made it for that at home feel.
The most difficult thing for me to do was get it off of the wheel because it gets pretty stuck down. It was also hard to make the lip on the sides of the plate. I overcame this by taking my time lifting it off of the wheel. If I could start over I would make another one because this one broke in the kiln so I never got to finish this set.
This is realist art and something that you can use in real life. This set was unique to me because it was a set that I came up with myself. I loved how perfect that plate was it was super smooth and the perfect size.
Hailey Green "Kitchen set"
clay, 2024
This was the full kitchen set. I got the idea from the internet and I wanted to make my own type of kitchen set like the ones I seem on the internet.
I started by making the bowls on the wheel. I made three of them then I made the plate. I was going to make 2 plates but I just didn't have enough time.
This was meant for a family member so I was really excited to have this set come out but unfortunately some of them did get ruined in the kiln because another piece of art work did explode. When people look at this I want them to image their own pieces of kitchen supples since I never got to finish them.
There was nothing that was super difficult for me to do the most difficult thing was to hear that they have broke in the kiln because I was very excited for them to come out. If I could do anything different it would have been to make plates and a few more bowls if I would have had enough time.
These were supposed to be realistic and use full pieces of art. They where unique to me because I got to make them any way I wanted and any color size or shape. I loved everything about this set.
Hailey Green "Home"
clay 2024
This was just a simple idea and something fun to make. I seen something like this so I thought it was a cool idea and wanted to give it a try.
I started this by making the little logs and the man with a red hat just to give him some character. After I did that I took a bunch of pictures of the guy moving back and forth adding logs each time so that it would make it look like he was building the house.
The hardest part was making the man stand up because he wanted to keep falling down also his arms kept falling off which made it really hard for me to keep moving him. it also made it really hard for me to make it look like he was moving the logs. I just fixed this by putting the arms back on and fixing his body.
I really liked this because it was a cool idea and I think that itg turned out pretty good if I would have had more time I would have finshed the whole house and made the guy better so that way he wouldnt have fallen apart.
