My idea was to create a piece that represented the two sides of every person. I think I have also liked the idea of an artwork that depicted two sides of something. When I was in 8th grade I wanted to do a sculpture in art that represented the two sides of a cactus. One side was the side people saw. The side that draws you to it because it looks so interesting. The other side, however, showed that when you touch a cactus it can be sharp and dangerous.
At first when I started out I was just using a pencil and I had this idea in my head that it would be a split face but in my sketch I was just using my finger for blending. Until Mrs Dunlavey gave me some proper tools to shade and it made the process a whole lot easier. I used a shading pencil and I also used colored pencils to give it a colored look.
When people see this I want them to think and know right when they look at it that this is two sides of something. There is the side that is broken and drooping and melting from sadness or angel in life. Then the other side which is the mask many people have to show that they are happy on the outside.
Trying to draw the hair was definitely most difficult because I have never been good at hair and I still don't think I am but it is definitely better than in the past. If I were to start over I would figure out to make it look like she is crying the color out of her eyes because I just don't really get that feeling from the eyes in my drawing.
I would describe this artwork as a half surreal half abstract project. It entails two sides of something in a realistic way. I think what I love most is the shading of the mask. It would have been way worse if I didn't have the drawing pencils. When I started to draw this I didn't have any shading pencils so those really helped me with shading in my artworks.

My idea was for this project to do something more simple because the other artworks I did were detailed and for this one I wanted the feel of a more realistic drawing. I’ve always really liked butterflies even when I was younger and I really wanted to include that in an artwork.
In the beginning I had to look into a bunch of magazines and find the right colors and shapes for the artwork because I had the idea in my head. First I had to start out slowly and trace out my plans to stick down the magazines. Then all I had to do was glue down everything carefully so that it was smooth and had shapes that clashed with each other.
I think that when I made this artwork I wanted it to represent the child-like side of me. The bright colors and the butterflies really remind me of my bedroom when I was about 5. When I was 5 I had butterflies on my mattress and walls and bright yellow walls so this artwork really made me think about my childhood.
The first time I tried to make this artwork I messed up and forgot to put a background on before I glued everything else on. So I had to flip it over and start again. I really should have thought about the background but it ended up fine in the end. The only other problem I had was that it's difficult to glue all of the pieces on straight without them moving.
I would say that this is a more abstract piece mainly because this isn't really how you would see a drawing like this since it is a collage. I really like this piece and how it includes a piece from my childhood.

This artwork is based on a real album so it is not original. I really like this album because I think it really incorporates the band's character at this time in their lives. My main idea was to do a portrait of one of the band members' faces but I ended up liking this idea so it worked out well.
I used colored pencils and shading pencils. In this artwork there were both grey scale parts and colored parts of teh drawing. I started out working on teh tracing and out lines then on the face since it was black and white then I worked on teh yellow and the bules and getting down teh white bubble so that it looked clean.
When people see this I want them to think about the significance of this album and what it represents.it is based off of a real artwork and the real artwork represents the band getting their thoughts and feelings out with their songs.
I was very difficult to shade the parts of teh artwork where it was a ornge brown like shading in the top right part of teh picture. The face was also difficult for me and I kinda messed up on teh face and especially the eye but it ended up looking just like the album in teh end.
It is a realistic artwork since it is based on an object in real life. Although it isn’t my favorite album or my second favorite it is still a good album with good songs in it and I love their idea for the album covers.

I knew I wanted to do a picture of Luke but I had several that I wanted to do. It eventually came down to the one I liked the most which ended up being this one. This is not an original picture though it is based off of a photographed picture of him.
At first I had to use the light board to draw the main points and outlines and shadings of the photo. After I was done with that I had to work on completing the different shades of black, white, and grey. The main part I had to work on was his face. Then the other main part was to work on his shirt and all of the shapes on it.
When others see this they might not know who the drawing is of but I know that several people can recognize his face even as a drawing and not a picture. I want people to feel happy when they see this black and white and especially when they are seeing him smile.
The most difficult part of the drawing was probably drawing his eyes and mouth. His eyes have an almost puffy feature to it so it was difficult to get the shading right. His hair was also difficult to draw because I have never been good at drawing hair and I had messed up a little but I found a way to fix it. Overall this was one of the more difficult drawings that I have had to do so far.
This is a realistic drawing and I definitely loved how it turned out. Although it definitely had its challenges it was worth it to put in the time and draw it not only for class but I enjoyed it a lot.
