My idea for my Baseline Project was to make the Bass Pro Shops logo. Bass Pro is one of my favorite places to go, and I wanted to make a tribute to it. I thought of it while we were given the instructions for the project and decided to go for it. I used paper and pencil, that's all. I tried filling in the barrier as evenly as possible. I didn't really think of any symbolism in this drawing other than I really like Bass Pro. I tried filling in the barrier as evenly as possible, but there is still some parts where it is uneven. I would probably grab a circle to trace before I tried making the barrier again. I tried using a realistic style with this art. I really like the detail I put into the largemouth bass.
Black and white portrait, colored animal, collage still life, combo landscape. I’m very excited to make the colored animal, but worried about the collage still life.
I wanted to draw Thor's hammer from God of War: Ragnarok. I got the idea while thinking of things to sketch and went for it. I first traced the actual hammer part off a Google image of the hammer and then added all of the runes and details. Paper and pencil only! The artwork is supposed to symbolize the power we all have in ourselves if we look. The runes were HARD to make, but I simply slowed down and even added some details of my own. I would like to try to make the handle a little more accurate to the game. I used a surreal style, as I think the hammer should look enchanted. I love the amount of detail I put in.
My idea was to make a black and white portrait of myself holding a fish up in Wisconsin. I got the idea while looking for portraits of myself, and this was a nice life experience of mine. Paper, pencil, and eraser only. I want the artwork to make people think about good times they've had with family. It was honestly hard to make all the little details in my shirt, but I got it. Haven't finished yet but can't wait to see how it ends. I went for a realistic aproach as this is supposed to be a portrait of myself. I love the memories this art makes me think of.
I wanted to make the Leviathan Axe from God of War as my third sketch of the year. I got the idea after I made Thor's hammer. I used paper and pencil only, tracing the axe and then making the details after. This artwork was not made with an overall theme in mind, but the axe could symbolize power. The runes were even harder to make on this, but I think it was worth it to add the details by looking at multiple Google images. I would change the knob at the bottom, everything else was fine. I went for a surreal style for the axe, as its supposed to be a godly weapon. I love all the detail I put in, either from images or my own mind.
I wanted to make the Blades of Chaos from God of War as my 4th sketch. Getting the idea after making the Leviathan Axe, I strived to make the blades as detailed as possible. I only made the one blade, but there are supposed to be two. Paper and pencil were the only materials used. I wanted the blade to symbolize our pasts, as they are an important part of the God of War games, present and past. The handle was actually more difficult than I thought it would be, but I think it was worth it to make the details as accurate as possible. I would change the runes on the front end of the blade, but I wouldn't do much to them in the long run. I went for a surreal style, and maybe I'll come back and add fire to the front end of the blade or something later. I am very happy with the turnout.
I did this 5th sketch on Halloween. This sketch was a memorial to the movie Friday the 13th. Paper and pencil as usual, with some sketching on the logo. I wanted this sketch to symbolize Halloween, and our privilege to celebrate it. The erased portion of the axe was by accident, I wanted the machete to be on the bottom but when I realized I messed it up I improvised and turned it into an axe. The erased part definetly bothers me, as does the nose on the mask, so I would change those. I went for a surreal style, as the movies are fictional. I am surprised by the way this came out, and am quite happy.
My 6th sketch was God of War's Draupnir Spear. The usual paper and pencil was used. I wanted this sketch to symbolize freedom, as for us it is a given right, but in some places of the world it is not this way. I struggled to add detail over the thin spear, and that is something I would change should I do this sketch again. I went for a surreal style, as this is a mythical weapon. I am still happy with it, but I would change some things in the future.
I'm going to use my 3rd sketch of the year. I think the axe would look amazing with filters, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Finished black and white portrait.

My 8th sketchbook project of the year, I decided to do the Jurassic Park logo. I used paper, pencil, and a photo from online. I wanted this sketch to remind people of the fascinating history of our Earth. I struggled on detailing the bones of the t-rex, but I think I got it done pretty accurately. I went for a surreal style, trying to show the details of the t-rex, a now extinct animal that we may never know the true image of. I am happy with this, might be one of my favorites of the 8 I've made.
My Printmaking idea was the Leviathan Axe, and I went for it. I am very happy with how this came out. I think it went even better than my original drawing, and I thought that went well when I first did it.
