Rocky Mountain Home

I got my Idea for this artwork from a picture that I saw online. It was like what I made but without the added details or the road. It had a very nice landscape and I thought that it would be fun to make.

My process for this project was I started using just a graphite pencil and then I colored the picture and after the color was added I then added sharpie to go over all of the lines and make the colors standout more than before.

This artwork isn’t necessarily supposed to make you think but If it were it would be about nature and rocky mountain areas around the world.

The most difficult part of this project was the cow on the mountain because it was hard to make it the right size and still have it look nice but sadly the cow was sort of ruined by the sharpie because the cows lines were very small. I overcame this problem by using a pencil with a smaller lead inside of it.

I would say that my art style is Non- Objective because I don’t have a certain style for my art. I just try to make it look as nice as I can to the best of my ability. The part that I love about this piece would be the mountains and the birds in the background I really like how that turned out.

Colored Tree

11x12, Graphite Colored Pencils, Oil Patels, 12-16-20

I got this Idea for my colored tree because I saw a photo online of a tree once and I thought that it was very unique. Once I saw it I decided that I wanted to make my own tree drawing . And then it evolved from there because it wasn’t going to be colored originally.

I used pencils, colored pencils and oil pastels. I used the pencils to create the basic sketch and then used the colored items to fill it in. I also used the style of layering to make my artwork look thicker and more defined.

This piece of artwork has no symbolism but when people look at it I would like them to think about nature. It really has no true meaning other than to show a picture of nature. But if there was I would say the symbolism of this picture is that nature is very beautiful and should be appreciated.

The most difficult thing for me was the layering because I had never really done it before but I think it might be one of my new favorite strategies. I overcame this struggle because Mrs. Dunlavey helped me do the layering and showed me how to do it. If I were to start over I would make the tree fully colored pencil and have the background oil pastel.

I think that this artwork is non objective because I would not call this realistic or abstract in any way. It is simply just a drawing of a tree in my own style using the layering strategy. I love the background of my tree and the colored pencil half of the bush on top because I think that I did a great job from it.
