Killian Crowley "Dragon"

Width 4 ½ ,height 3 ,length 3, stonewall clay, 2021

My slip bowl is a bowl that I scratched the sides out of to add texture then stapped the lip to make it look like scales and gave it a cool blue color. I just let my hands do the work and not really think it. One of the tools used had a pointed arrow that was for the lid to give it that cool scaly look. This was the first piece we did in class introducing us to clay working. The hardest part of making this piece was making the shape of the bowl. I also have this struggle with my other project. The style of this project is realistic.

Killian Crowley "Fossil"

12 length, width 6, height 2, clay and glass, 2021

My idea was gonna be a canoe because my dad and I like to go out and canoe. But I ended up going another route when I saw all these leaves and stuff that would make a cool imprint. I decided then that it would be cool to have a fossil tray. I had a boat shape tray to use for an outline I then used fakes leaves and other items to make imprints on the clay. I pushed them in waited about 10 seconds then pulled it off. I want some to look at it and think that’s really cool and reminds me of a fossil. The most difficult part for me was getting a good-looking shape. One the sides were too big or thin etc. If I was gonna do something different I would get more items to add more detail to my project. The one thing I love about my project is the imprints left. I wish I would’ve added a brown color so it really did look like a fossil.
