I was having a hard time figuring out what to do for my magnet. I wanted to make something my mom could remember and love. So I started to think about what my mom loved and enjoyed. She likes the beach. So I made a little beach with palm trees. The process for this art was fairly easy. First, I get a small bit of clay and flatten it, then I start with a little island cut out. I cut out little waves and then added the trees, then the sun. Lastly, I painted 2-3 layers of paint. This artwork is just supposed to say it's like looking at a beach, but from your house. There really is no symbolic imagery besides a beach. The part I struggled with the most was the trees. I struggled with them because I would make them too big. If I could change anything, I would add more paint so it looks better. This artwork will symbolize realism because it is a beach.

I made a vase so it could hold flowers. My mom has a decent amount of flowers inside the house, so why not have more? The process was hard for me, first I made a base and a cylinder, then I shaped out the top to have a lip. I made a unique backside to give it more of a different look. Then I made the inside of the vase. After the vase was fired, I glazed it. I was aiming for a purple, and then I did blue for stripes to give it more color. In my experience, my process took forever because I kept having to redo it. This vase doesn't really have a meaning other than just holding flowers. The vase also took me forever to make because I kept messing up and having to redo it, but setbacks are progress. If I could change one thing i would add a handle because i forgot to. I think this vase is realistic.
David Voss "ancient."
size: 3 inches. Media: Clay, glaze. Year: 2026
My idea for this bowl is to give it an ancient look. i did this because ancient artwork looks so cool in my opinion. The process was fun first I mad a bid circle of clay then i smoothed the edges. After that i took a foam ring and put the clay on top and dropped the ring with the clay on it on the table. this caused the middle to sink in to give it a bowl look. after it got fired i glazed it orange to give it an ancient look. it supposed to represent ancient Egyption artwork by the color. if i could change one thing it would be to sand down and make the edged look better and smoother. lastly this artwork symbolizes realism
David Voss "black hole."
size: 2 inches. Media: Clay, glaze. Year: 2026
Im not gonna lie. I had no idea for this project. I was just making a second bowl and just glazed it a dark color which is black. the process was about the same for the other bowl, But I just made it smaller. I started with a chuck of clay and flattened it down into a circle. then I took a smaller foam ring and put the clay on top and dropped the ring on the table. then after the bowl shape was made I made the sides as smooth as I could. Lastly I glazed it black. there really isn't any symbolizing in this project. honestly I don't know what the hardest part is. Maybe the smoothing down to get it even. I couldn't get it completely even. if I could change anything I would ad some other colors to give it more of a pop.
