This artwork is a piece of paper and pencil I made for my magnet. First I made something that was just going to be a pencil. I added the paper as a background with paint. First I sculpted the disk and rolled the pencil. Then it was bisque fired. Next I painted the sculpture and glued the magnet on the back. If I started over I would try to make the paper lines a little more straight. I really like how the colors match the real items. It is a realistic style of work.
The reason I made these is because for the top slump drape I used a leaf patterned mat and pressed it into the clay to create a leaf looking effect. Then it got bisque fired and I glazed it with a leafy green color to make it more like a leaf.
For the bottom slump drape I was going for kind of like the fine china's with the color and I got as close as I could. I used a gold colored glaze after it got bisque fired and it came out looking pretty good.
I used slabs of clay, a donuts, a kiln, and glaze. I used the slabs and put designs in them and then used the donuts to make it a slump drape bowl then cut it out into the shape of a bowl and fired it in the kiln and then glazed it.
The first one is supposed to kind of symbolize a leaf with the color and pattern. The second one was supposed to be like a fine china color of gold but it kind of came out a little bit of a darker gold in some spots and gold in the others.
The most difficult thing was probably putting the clay over the donuts after putting the design on it and trying not to ruin the design while doing it. If I did it again I would probably try to be more careful with draping it over the donuts so the design shows up a little better.
