Clay Work
Clay Work
Pitcher
Pitcher Artist Statement: This was my first ever actual project with clay, so I focused on creating a pitcher with smooth sides and a balanced shape. Even though I didn’t use any special techniques, I learned how important it is to be patient and pay attention to small details, like keeping the walls even and shaping the handle so it feels comfortable to hold. It was tough to work with the clay especially since I was a rookie but I definetely would've shaped it out a lot better if I could do this again.
Candle Holder
Candle Artist Statement: My artwork is a clay candle holder that I created to become more experienced with the circular items. I didn't use any special techniques, I just did what I did with the pitcher, and my shape turned out a lot better. I focused on making the holder sturdy and balanced so it could safely support a candle. I went with a darker color glaze so when the candle was lit, it would release more light.

Magnet Design
Charcuterie
Pumpkin
Magnet Artist Statement: This was my first ever time working with clay, I feel like I see this type of magnet or at least this same concept on T-shirts. I had a better heart but I think someone stole it and I should've went with red. This was relatively easy and I like how it turned out.
Charcuterie Artist Statement: I wasn't quite sure with this project, if I could do it all over again it would be a lot better in my opinion. I would've changed everything about it but that doesn't mean I am not happy with it. The shape isn't great, design could be better, and I don't like the color of glaze I went with. But it set me up to do better in the future.
Pumpkin Artist Statement: My pumpkin turned out great, the shape is well but it drooped down during the drying process. I should've used less water and it would have looked just a little better. There wasn't an actual orange color glaze but this color looked close enough to me. I wish I would have colored the stem green or brown but it's okay.
Wheel Dip Bowl:
Wheel Dip Bowl #2:
Wheel Dip Bowl Glazed:
Artist Statement: I am very proud with how these wheel bowls turned out because they are a lot more symmetrical then my other work or at least better shaped and smooth. Once they get fired they will look great. I wish I would have shaped the blue one better but it's okay. This was my first ever time on the wheel so it was trial and error with a few things but once I figured it out it went well.
