Ayden Vickers “Existential Xmas Cat”

12’9, Copic sketch markers Micron size one pencil, 2021

I got the idea from a few different pictures I saw online and used several different techniques that they used on my drawing. It

First I sketched my idea on a piece of paper with a pencil, and went over all the lines with a micron and thickened my lines. When I make a final piece of art I make mistakes so when drawing my final I was simultaneously changing it to fix my mistakes. With this drawing i wanted to do color which is something i'm experimenting with, so i did it on my rough sketch this time i made the mistake of doing with my final below it so it bleed.I caught i quickly but not quick enough the drawing had red and green on it but i turned it around to look great and name my drawing xmas cat.

My art doesn't really have a deeper meaning. I made my art the way it is because it brings me joy which is the only reason I make art.

The most difficult part of this piece was coming up with the idea and outline as is with all my pieces. I went online and just sat thinking about what I prefer drawing and how I could put it on a piece of paper. I don't think I would change anything if I started over other than add a background to fill the paper more.

The style of art I used on this piece is called lineart which has little to no curves in it.This is my personal favorite art style because I'm not very good at curving lines without ruining my art. I like my drawing because it looks very cool and futuristic.

Ayden Vickers “Myrne”

9x12/ Sketch ink,calligraphy pens/2021

My idea is a portrait of a girl crying while she smiles.

I got the idea from looking at ink portraits on pinterest and just combined them into one really cool piece of art.

I made this piece by first sketching it out with a pencil using the photos I found as references for parts of the portrait then I traced the entire piece out with my calligraphy pens using waterproof black ink. Then I filled in all my empty spaces in my drawing using a very fine paint brush. Afterwards I erased all my pencil marks then filled in all the spots I missed.

My portrait is a representation of how some people may feel one way and look the complete opposite. This is not relating to me but probably somebody else.

The most difficult part of this project was combining the many ideas I had in my head into a coherent piece of artwork. I got them together by just going for it and not caring if I had to try a different approach.

This is a realistic portrait that follows my style of using inks and calligraphy with some paint brushes. I love this because it looks like something a real artist would draw.
