Avery Meek: "Baseline"
6x9, colored pencil, 2026
My idea was to do a bunch of things that remind me of Treaty Oak Revival. I got this idea because I was listening to a song by them when we had to pick an idea, so it just came to my mind to draw objects that remind me of songs by them.
I first started with the pool balls because they are in my favorite album they made. I started with one layer on each ball, and then I decided I should go over it again
When people look at my artwork, I want them to think of Treaty Oak because they helped me throughout my whole life because their songs are very relatable.
The most difficult part of the project was the cards; I wanted to make sure they were all about the same size, and I wanted them to look real.
What I love about this project was that it was so different from anything else I've seen, and I don't think anyone else could come up with it.
Avery Meek "Lucky"
9x12, Colored Pencil, 2026
For this project, I decided to draw my dog, Lucky. I thought that since my dog is so unique ( he only has 3 legs), he would be cool to draw since everyone's art is unique.
To make this, I started by making a grid so the face looked identical. Once I got his face done, I started on doing the outline of the background. For the background, I needed to do a lot of shading, and it was my first time needing to do a fuzzy texture.
When people look at my artwork, I want them to think that my dog is very cute and cuddly because not everything is what it seems; my dog is very naughty, and you will probably never see him cuddled up or even sitting down.
The hardest part about this was the background; it took me multiple tries, and I still wish I had made it look more realistic.
I love this project because Lucky is my dog, and I'm always talking about him to everyone.
Avery Meek "Black and white"
6x9, charcoal, 2026
This project was very random, and it was something I came up with in my head. I saw something sorta like it on Instagram the day before, and so when it was time to pick, I just made that.
For this, I started by making the outline, which took me forever. Then I started working on shading the hand and making the suits on the cards.
The hardest part about this was making the hand because I have never done a hand before, but I've also never made bones; this took me way too many times, but I'm very glad with the outcome.
This project is very simple, and I like how theres not a lot going on in it. I also think the cards just make it go along with my style of art.
