"Smokey stream"
6x6, graphite, 2026
The idea was to create a sketch of a picture of mountains, a river, tree, and sun and clouds. I got the idea from a photo I saw on pinterest when I was looking for inspiration. I added my own amount of trees and clouds and other details to the sketch. When drawing it I was thinking of similar places I have seen in real life to help to sketch it and add my own details. I used a piece of paper and a graphite pencil to draw the picture. I started at the top of the picture when drawing and used light soft strokes to outline where I want to place things. Once I got everything placed on the paper nicely then I went over the lines more hard and then I started to shade in places that needed it. The artwork is just a picture of nature and is calm and simple. The artwork means peace and calmness from nature and I want people to feel and think happy and calm things when they see this artwork. The most difficult part for me was the shading and getting the right darkness to help it look more real. I overcame that struggle by taking my time and trying to start off as light as possible and then going in darker. If i were to start over i would have added more trees and grass details. This artwork is realistic. This artwork is unique to my own personal style because it's a little messy and looks like a sketch but also is a little realistic and you can tell that realistic is the art style. I love how it looks natural and sketched and not too real or in depth.
"Soft dog"
9x12, scratch art, 2026
My idea is a picture of my dog's face as a scratch art picture. I got the idea from a picture I had of my dog. I used scratch art to do this artwork. I took a scratch tool and scraped the lines to outline my dog's face and used little strokes to do the hair on the picture. Once I got the whole face outlines I went in and did the small details to make it look more real and like the picture. The artwork does not mean much, it's just a photo of my dog. I want people to think about other animals and have a feeling of happiness and softness while looking at the picture of my dog. The most difficult part for me was outlining the eyes and getting the small hairs around the eyes because the angle of the scratch tool had to change a lot to get the different directions of hair strokes. I overcame the struggles by taking my time and working in one direction with the tool first and then switching the angle and working in the other direction. If i started over i would have added more detail to the ears. The style of art is scratch art. The details and lots of hairs and most of it being filled in makes it more my own personal style and I like how there is not a lot of blank space left on the dog's face.
"Threw the glass"
9x12, still life cubism pastel, 2026
My idea was to make a still life cubism pastel drawing of glass objects. This artwork was an assignment and I got the idea of the glass objects from the object that were placed in front of me to draw. I added the lines and patterns after I sketched the objects and then colored it in with my choice of colored pastels and that's how it evolved. I used a piece of paper and a pencil to sketch the objects on the paper. I then used a pencil to draw lines through the paper and then I used oil pastels to color in each section separated by the lines going through the paper. Once all the sections were colored in I went over the lines and the objects with a sharpie to make the lines black. I then filled in each section with different patterns. This artwork does not have much meaning behind it. I want people to think of fun things and old patterns and trends when they see this artwork. The most difficult thing for me was coming up with different patterns to fill the sections in with. I overcame this by looking up patterns on google and using what came up as ideas to use. If I were to start over I would draw the lines more spaced out on the object so it would be easier to color in with the oil pastels. The art style for this is still life cubism. The lots of different colors and the patterns being spaced out and big makes this more of my own personal style. I love how busy the artwork is and how fun it looks.
