I was inspired by my sister's pitcher she did when she was in ceramics. It is in our house, and it is being used as a decoration. I wanted mine to be like a decoration in the house, too.
During this project, we had to get two slabs and smooth them out so we could put them together to make one. Smoothing both slabs out was to help avoid air bubbles and cracks later. When we were combining the two slabs together, we had to use the needle tool to scratch the clay and slip to put the slabs together. After the two slabs were combined, I smoothed them out and made sure the sides were somewhat even. I used the rib tool for smoothing the edges out. After that was done, I had to trace off a paper, and I cut the shape out. I then folded it together and smoothed all the cracks out.
When people see my artwork, I want them to think of being relaxed. To me, it reminds me of an ocean, because it is blue like the water, and then there is brown like sand. The ocean is calm and peaceful, and that's what I want people to think of.
What was most difficult for me during this project was keeping the walls up and not collapsing in. This project took me a little longer because I had to restart. On my first pitcher, the walls kept caving in, and I could not get them to stay upright. I ended up taking the old pitcher apart, so it was still in the shape of a pitcher. So all I did was smooth the old pitcher out, and I put it back together, and the walls stopped collapsing in. I also struggled with the glazing because it was kind of my first time using glaze, and so I did not realize how watery it was, and the glaze kept dripping. I had to get a sponge and wipe the spots where I did not want the glaze off.
This pitcher is realistic, and I love that it has gold and green on it. I love it when the colors gold and green are together. They go really well together, I think. I also like that the design is really showing because I thought you would not be able to see it that well.

I was not really inspired for this bowl because it was our first project there, and I did not really know what to do. It was all so new to me, and I learned a lot doing the two bowls.
First, for this project, we had to wedge the clay to prevent cracks and air bubbles. After that was done, we rolled out the clay and made sure there were no cracks in the clay. I then pushed a design into the clay and used a rib tool to make sure that the design was really there. After that was done, I got a mold and put the clay in it and started slamming it onto the table, and it started making a bowl. After I thought it was done forming, I made little ruffles at the top of the bowl. Then I took the bowl out of the mold and started to smooth out any bumps or cracks in the bowl using a sponge.
When people look at my art, I want them to think of a flower. I think that the colors kind of give a rose vibe. I also think that the shape of the bowl could look like a flower opening up. I want people to think of good vibes when they look at this bowl, because who doesn't like flowers.
During this project, I struggled with the design because when the bowl came out of the mold, there were a lot of cracks inside the bowl. I had to use a sponge and try to smooth the clay out on the inside without removing the design. I think that you can not really see the design when you look at it, but you can if you look at it closely. I also struggled with keeping the cracks away because when I was trying to shape the bowl, it kept cracking because I needed to add more water to the clay, because it was getting dry. If I started this project over, I would have tried and pressed the design more. It was my first time pressing a design in clay, and I was scared to press it in too far. I learned that you can press it in hard, but not too hard, and it won't do anything.
I think that the bowl is abstract and realistic because it is a bowl and it can be used. What makes this bowl unique is that I like those colors together. I like pink, and the white on the outside together, and there is a little bit of white/silver in the inside also.

For this project, I was inspired by the other bowls because I wanted to shape the bowl with a little ruffle. I wanted it to be a bowl that you can put your rings and jewelry in before you get into the shower.
First, for this project, we had to wedge the clay to prevent cracks and air bubbles. After that was done, we rolled out the clay and made sure there were no cracks in the clay. I then pushed a design into the clay and used a rib tool to make sure that the design was really there. During this project, I wanted people to think of the sky at night. When the sky is dark, but the moon is lighting it up. At the bottom, there is light blue, and on the sides, there is dark blue, so I think that represents the sky.
During this project, I had to restart the bowl because I cut the inside when I put it in the mold inside of the outside so it fell right through the mold. This is what I struggled with because it took a long time to restart the process. There were also a lot of cracks on the outside, so I had to use the spray bottle and a sponge to smooth them out. I also struggled to find out what colors of glaze I wanted to use. I think I grabbed a random one off the shelf and hoped that it would look good together. I wanted to use colors that I did not use for any other projects or were not planning to use on any other projects. I overcame these struggles by cutting the mold on the outside instead of the inside, and I need to start coming up with more of a plan when I am starting a project.
I think that this bowl is abstract. I love that there are two shades of blue in the bowl. I did not anticipate it to look like the night sky, but when I saw it, I thought of that. I really liked how it turned out, and I thought my other bowl would have turned out better, but I think this one did.

I was not inspired by anything for this project; I love pigs. We have pigs at home, and I think that is how I came up with the idea. I was inspired by a picture online, though. I looked up clay pig magnets online, and that's how I constructed the pig.
This was one of the first projects that we did, and it was my first time working with clay in a long time. First, for this project, I thought of what I wanted to do, and then I looked up pig magnets made out of clay and found a picture online. I grabbed some clay and started to make the circle for the head. I used the rib tool to smooth the sides, and the sponge to smooth the whole thing. Then I got some more clay and made an oval for the nose. I grabbed the needle tool and used its rounded end to make the nostrils. After I was done with that, I made two round eyes of clay. I put them on the face, but I did not really like them, so I used the pointed part of the needler tool and poked two eyes out with it. When this was done, I made sure everything was secure and made ears and stuck them on. When this was done, I put it in the kiln and painted it with a light pink and a dark pink.
This artwork does not really mean anything in specific, but I want people to look at it and smile because who doesn't like pigs. I really enjoy pigs, and I think a lot of other people enjoy them too.
For this project, I struggled with the clay because it was my first time using that clay, and I did not really know how to work with it. I did not realize it would be so soft and gooey, but I am glad it is soft because I expected it to be harder. I also struggled with making the shape of the face the circular part because I wanted the circle to look even and round, but it was hard to make one like that. I also struggled with attaching everything because I did not know if it was attached enough or not. I used some slip and stuck it on and hoped it would not fall off. Another thing that I struggled with in this project was the eyeballs because I originally grabbed clay and rolled it and stuck those on, but I did not like those eyeballs, so I took them off and poked holes in the face instead. The last thing that I struggled with for this project was making the right pinks that I wanted. I mixed a lot of white with pink, and that made the two shades of pink I wanted.
I think that this project is realistic because it has a nose, ears, and eyes. It also has the usual pig colors. My favorite thing about the pig is that it has two shades of pink. I feel like if there was only one shade, then it would not be as attractive to look at.
