I used I picture I took from vacation this summer. A butterfly was flying around and it landed in the most perfect place for me to snap a picture. I started by sketching the butterfly. After the butterfly, I moved on to the plant it was resting on. Once I had my sketch I started to paint. It took patience and lots of focus because there were lots of small details. I had to use a very, very small brush. Lastly, I went over the background with light blue metallic water paint. When an audience sees my painting, I just want them to see a beautiful butterfly and appreciate nature. I tried to make this painting as realistic as I could so it would replicate my photo well.
