6" X 9" Acrylic
For this painting I used acrylic paint to lay down the main colors and block everything out. After I had a good idea of what colors I was going to use I went in with cooler shades to add shadows. I wanted this painting to portray how it feels to be chronically ill. The candle is supposed to represent the person. The flame of the candle represents the crhonic illness, slowly melting away at the person's body. The main way I portrayed the chornic illness idea was through the pill bottl in the corner full of pills that i referenced from the same medication I take every day. I knew that the corner need something else so I added a match box and a used match infornt of the candle to really push that feeling of being broken and tired and burnt out.

For this painting I used a monochromatic pallette. I wanted this painting to really drive a feeling of dread or depression, the same feelings that I personally have felt after becoming chronically ill in the past coupl years. There's two pill bottles, one spilt on the table and open and the other standing tall but empty. I think that the two pill bottles can represent how a chronically ill person can carry themselves during rough times. Either they can stand tall but they don't have any energy so a lot of the interactions can be emotionless or empty; or they can let everything out and give up, which is represented by the pills on the table. I added a fall risk bracelet that's themed after a bracelet that I had gotten at one of my appointments that I had while working on this painting. The apple in the corner is there for fun because I personally really like apples and my partner is allergic to apples so it holds a certain significance to me.

This painting is just a very silly thing that I wanted to do. I needed to paint an animal and that's what I did just differently! I was messing around with the idea of painting a frog and drew this very sad clown frog holding a balloon that wasn't popped and a balloon that was popped and he had a very sad expression on his face. I decided I wanted to paint him and grabbed a canvas and started sketching him. His eyes are very big and sad to show that he is indeed very upset that one of his balloons popped. He has clown shoes that are way too big for his feet and probably hurt his little feet which probably adds to his sadness. He has a very adorable red clown noes on that he loves very much. He's surrounded by a bunch of polka dots that follow the same color scheme as the polka dots on his little hat. I love him very much and he brings me a lot of happiness and I'm very happy with how he turned out!
