Addison Cronk "Flowers"
16x20, Acrylic, 2024
I wanted to make simple artwork that can also be used as decoration. I searched for inspiration on different platforms and combined multiple ideas to create this work.
I started this painting by painting the background. I then drew out where I wanted the flowers to go and then began painting the flowers one by one. I wanted the colors to be pastel. I then outlined all of the flowers with black and filled in the center of each flower. I felt as though the painting was too simple for my liking so i added some white dots to help fill i some empty space.
I want anyone who looks at this painting to be reminded of summer as i chose bright colors and there are flowers all through the painting.
The most difficult part of creating this painting was the shape of the flowers themselves. It was somewhat difficult to get all the flowers to look similar. To get the flowers how i wanted I drew them out with pencil and revised them until i felt content with how they all looked together. If I were to start over I think i would change the color of the background to a more bright color to make the painting even more summer-like.
This painting is what i would consider abstract. What i love about this painting is that not all the flowers are exactly the same but they still all look good together and I like how bright the colors of the flowers are.
Addison Cronk "No Rain No Flowers"
Size, acrylic, 2024
My idea was to spread a message of no rain no flowers meaning if you do not go through bad things in your life the good will not seem great. It also means that pushing through stuff that happens pays off in the end. I got this idea because it is something that I live by and I have a tattoo that says "No rain no flowers".
I started by painting the bakground pink, i had to make the perfect shade that I had in mind. Once i had the background painted i began drawing out the bouquet of flowers exactly how i wanted them. I then took a very thin paintbrush and went over the lines with black paint. Lastly I wrote out the words and painted them with black.
I wanted this painting to give the message to people that the stuff that you go through only helps you grow in the end. I want people who look at this painting to thinl of themselves and their life expiriences that they have went through that has caused them to grow as a person or that are happening currently. It is meant to give hope to people that things will always get better.
The most difficult part of creating this painting is the very thin lines that had to be painted. I had to keep a very steady hand so the lines did not become too thick or crooked. If i were to change anything bout this painting I would have made the pink background a couple shades lighter to make the flowers and words pop better.
This is an abstract piece. What I like about this piece is that it is very simplistic and it has a good meaning behind it.
Addison Cronk "Tiana"
9x12, acrylic, 2024
I wanted to create a painting based off my favorite Disney movie; "Princess and The Frog". I picked a scene from the move that I thought had a good meaning behind it.
I started by painting the background of my canvas to appear as the night sky as seen in the scene of the movie. I then outlined Tiana and the railing. Once i had the outlines done I started by painting tiana first. After that I painted the railing and the star above. Finally i traced out the words ad then went over them with a paint marker.
This artwork was meant to be a scene from Princess and The Frog but also has a meaning behind it. The words on the painting read "Make a wish and hold on tight". This means if you have a dream, chase it, and do your best to achieve your goals.
The most difficult part for me was the wording on the painting. I traced out the wording but I couldnt find a very thin paint marker to go over it with. This made the lines thicker than i anticipated them to be. To fix and mistake i made in the wording, I took a very thin pait brush with white paint and went over any mistakes. If I were to start over I would only change how I did the wording.
This piece of artwork is Abstract. I like how I did not add too many details, making this painting simplistic while still having all the details it truly needed.
