PROJECTS

McKenzie Fischer "You Are Not Alone"

18x24," Chalk on Paper, 2021

When I first started my first project it was National Suicide Awareness month and I wanted to do a project in memory of one of my best friends. First I did my bubble letters, then I did the two people holding hands. Then I colored in all my letters and the suicide awareness sign. Then I used chalk to add color to my arms. This artwork means a lot, my piece of artwork is showing you that you are not alone no matter what and that there is always help out there, that’s why two people are holding hands. Something I struggled with was making the skin colors look super realistic, I overcame those struggles with just blending and blending. The style of my artwork is surreal. This artwork is unique because I have never seen a piece of artwork like this before. I loved the way it looked at the end. The hands looked super realistic

16x20, chalk and colored pencils, 2021

My idea with this chalk driving was for someone who is close with me who wanted something with the Chicago Bulls. I got the idea from the internet. I looked up the Chicago Bulls symbol and then I added my own little unique things to make it my own. Then I added steam coming from the Bulls nose. Then I added the Windy City at the top to add a little more detail to the project. I want my audience to think that I tried very hard and it looks super realistic. I hope everyone knows right away that it’s the Chicago Bulls. The thing that was most difficult for me which kinda sounds stupid is the steam coming out of the nose. I overcame that because I just had to keep adding more and more white and blend it. If I started over I would make it even bigger. I love the windy city part. It makes it pop.

Nikes

18x24, chalk pencils, colored pencils, and paint, 2021

I got my idea because at first I was just drawing shoes for one of my sketchbook assignments and then one day I just painted a canvas because I didn’t know what to do. Then I decided to draw multiple pairs of shoes and cut them out and put them on my canvas. The artwork is just showing what kind of shoes I like, and I thought it was a very different but cool idea. The thing that was most difficult was for the shoes to really stick out while they were on the canvas, and what I did to overcome that was just to keep the shoes as bright as I could. If I could change something and start over I wouldn’t use chalk colored pencils because they smeared easily. I would just use regular colored pencils. I love how it was out of my comfort zone because I never usually do something like that.

“Grandmas Flowers”

18x24, acrylic, 2022

I got my idea because my great grandma always wanted me to paint her something, so I decided to paint her some flowers because she loves flowers as much as I do. First I painted the background and then I added grass, then started my flowers. This artwork means a lot to me because it is going to my great grandma and I know she will love it. The most difficult part was making the flowers look very realistic, but you just have to keep adding more and more layers. If I could start over, I would redo the background of my project, and maybe do different types of flowers. The style of this artwork is realism, something I love about this is the grass, I think it looks most realistic.
