Alyssa Weigandt "Coffee Mugs"
9+ inches, Clay, 2020
My idea was to make a coffee mug for my grandma because she drinks a lot of coffee. My first mug wasn’t big enough to fill the requirements I had to create a second one. I made the pink one slightly bigger for my grandma.
I made the bottom first then created the walls than the mug handle last. To make the walls I made slabs then trimmed the excess. I just rolled the handle shape
This artwork is a mug. I hope people will think i wish i could drink some coffee or even hot chocolate from that mug. There is no symbolic imagery
The most difficult thing was getting the walls to stay How did you overcome the struggles? I had to pinch the bottom and the walls for it to stay up. if i had to change one thing i would have tried to smooth it more out before the first firing it the first time. ]
This is a Realistic mug piece. What made it my style is that it looks one of a kind it looks handmade. I love that i will use this to drink so hot chocolate later and that i overcame the struggle of the walls and created something i can use for years to come
Alyssa Weigandt "Best Grandma Award"
9+ inches, Clay, 2020
My idea was to create a trophy for my grandma. I wanted to make a trophy in 3-d art in middle school ut didn’t get to. So I decided to do it this year
I first created the bottom box shape. Then created 4 slabs to make the middle. I created the number one coin the last. I used a rolling pin for my slabs and carved a hole in the bottom to have air escape.
This piece a trophy for best grandma that I will give to my grandma. I want the audience to think about their grandma or grandma figure and wonder if they would give it to them. There is not symbolic imagery.
The most difficult was making it sturdy with getting the 4 slabs on, having it not fall apart. I made sure to get all the slabs on in 1 class period, less likely to fall apart The only things I would do differently maybe have better word carving, and maybe make it more smooth.
The style of art is Non-Objective. What makes it mine is most trophies have a bowl shape on the top with handles on the sides and mine is a rectangular shape with a coin on top, I haven’t seen many trophies like that. I love that the glaze color, the shine, and the smile on my grandma’s face when I gave it to her.

Alyssa Weigandt "Finding A Taco Place"
48 seconds, Video, 2020
I was going to have a girl walking past shops to find a taco place. I decided at the end to make it a it long of her eating the taco. I thought of this idea because at the time i was in the mood for tacos.
I created my person and taco from modeling clay. I made sure the person could stand up. Then i created my background printing images of shops/restaurants and glued it to a blue background
I think the artwork meaning is to show your mood or day can effect what you want to eat. I want my audience to think about food and what they are in the mood to eat. There is no symbolic imagery in the video.
The most difficult thing was trying to take the photos as my blue background was falling and my person fell a few timesI had to tape, un-tape, and tape again my background as it moved if i started over I would not have taped my backgrounds together.
My style for this would be somewhat realistic. I think my original backgrounds and my blocky person. I love that i tried my best and that it came out ok, I love that i recounted my own sound as well.
