Monday 5/20/24
The kiddos have been working on decorating nature journals for the last week. Today we brought them outside to collect items and add them to the inside of the journal!
Tuesday 3/26/24
A parent volunteer, Alex, came in and made pork potstickers with the kiddos! Everyone had a great time, and Alex made sure to let all of the kids participate and try jobs. Everyone got to fold their own potstickers and then of course we ate them! :)
Teaching children to cook helps them develop necessary life skills, builds confidence, is great practice for communicating, and is tons of fun!
Wednesday & Thursday 3/20/24 & 3/21/24
For two days we had Susan from Therapy Dogs of Vermont come in with her good boy Finnegan. The students had a great time, and Finnegan was very soft and sweet. Even if your child isn't pictured, they still got to spend time with the dog, as they came two days! Finnegan even likes to pose for the camera!
Wednesday 3/20/24
The kiddos played yarn ball in the gym! It's a variation of dodgeball where they hit pins to knock them down. This helps teach teamwork, conflict management, and they had tons of fun!
Thursday 3/14/24
John from the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District comes in every year to talk to students about recycling. Today he came to TLC to do a fun craft! We made paper beads out of recycled magazines. The kids loved it! Everyone remembered John from their classroom visits, and we all had a lot of fun.
Wednesday 3/13/24
We did some trail mapping on the Twinfield Campus with parent volunteer Sarah! The kids had a fun time hiking around and looking for special markers to map. We found things like giant boulders, star shaped art, and fallen trees. The markers help us find our way when we are out on the trails.
Friday 3/8/24
It was so warm and a tease before the snow storm that weekend! Students enjoyed playing gaga ball in the pit, as well as exploring in the mud/sand. No one needed jackets, and we stayed outside for longer than usually to soak up the sun.
Tuesday 1/30/24
TLC students enjoying some sledding! Practicing new and unusual ways of moving- such as using sleds as surf boards! is a great way for younger kiddos to develop gross motor skills. It's also a fun, calculasted risk that teaches children how to assess and problem solve.
